Saw these awesome premade game mats at Temple con this weekend. they were pre made and made of a rubber type material. I can't remember where I was told to find them but if anyone knows what I am talking about please point me in the write direction.

Those are an alternative to the Zuzzy mats. I think they actually look a little better.

A small question on the same subject.
I just finished painting my zuzzy mat. All in light day brash (acrylic paint).
Do I need to seal the mat? If so with what?
And yes they are awesome

I did put matt varnish spray over mine. But mainly to take away some gloss of using inks.
As the varnish doesn't hurt the mat. I see no reason not to use it.
Following comment is from zuzzy's own tutorial:
Optionally, you could also apply a very light coat of acrylic sealant for added protection.

I don't.
Not a fan of the seams that you will have, and it is really just playroom tiles done in green.
The texture is a mesh of lines which also look rather bad and in no way compares to Zuzzy's varied textures imho.
Zuzzy are great because they have great texture (multiple options), are kind to tipped over models, roll up for storage (yet lay flat) and have no seams.

You're looking at the Interlocking Tiles. Check the "Game Mats" section instead.

no tile seams on those, they are rubberized canvas, from the looks of it.

Thats more like it.
Not bad. I like Zuzzy'z textured look, but these would be great for a totally flat base.

Those were my and Kevin's Zuzzy mats at Templecon (on the Malifaux demo tables). They are truly awesome, and I'd take them over a flocked gaming mat any day of the week. I literally folded them up and tossed them in a suitcase to get them to Rhode Island and back, and they're no worse for wear at all.
Nothing but good things to say about the product. I'm definitely picking up a 4x4 for Warmachine.
I will literally never make a game table again - if I want a permanent structure I'm just getting a zuzzy mat and gluing it down. They're that awesome (and cheap! $26 for the 3x3 mat is a steal...)

I'd love to see these things first hand. Any chance you can drag it to Gamma Ray some time?

zuzzy mats are awesome... i have one, painted it up to match the basing of my everblight army and it looks great.. plus being rubber you can roll it up easily.. also if your models tip over you dont have to cringe every time like when they tip over on the graveled boards and chip... i hate that. i would totally recommend one.

Not sure when I'll make it back Valander, but I'll try to do so. Weds are usually my Malifaux nights.

I heard the best way it so paint then with acrylics and water them down a lot.
Use washes as well.
If you go to the Zuzzy website they have a tutorial on painting them.

I would have to say acrylic paint it turn to rubber itself after a little bit of time shouldn't lose any off the mat after it dries a couple of days.

Haven't had any paint coming of from my mat. I always roll it. Don't know how it would react to folding.
I mistakenly folded it little while I was painting it and it stick to itself. I might have put some pressure on it don't remember anymore. But having that latex touch itself isn't good. Really good reason to paint the mat is to prevent sticking. Or keep the plastic sheet that came with it.

Once painted they're very resilient - I haven't had any paint loss on mine and I just folded it up and jammed it in my suitcase to get it to templecon and back. The creases are visible for a few minutes after unfolding it, but toss it on a flat surface and they disappear shortly.
Before painting, you don't want to fold it though - the latex will stick to itself.
