Hi all,

I'm brand new to this. I love the look and play style of Khador and I know they're the army for me. I've already purchased pButcher and the plastic kit that lets you choose between 4 different warjacks. And I do plan on magnetizing them for versatility. My question is what models are considered auto includes for a pButcher 35 point army ?

there aren't really any autoincludes for him. he's a very versatile caster. his spell fury will add damage to anyone so you can take a weak melee unit and make it stronger or you can take an already strong melee unit and make it over the top. with iron flesh you can take a low DEF unit and make it harder to hit or you can take a high DEF unit and make it impossible to hit. Models with multiple attacks are even better on his feat turn.

kayazy are good as they are a high def and high damage unit.

great bears are good for the same reason. plus they have multiple attacks.

assault kommandos are good because they have mutliple attacks

demo corps because they have multiple attacks.

i can keep going like this until i run out of khador models.

However for warjacks take kodiaks or berserkers with him as they will get the most out of full throttle. multiple attacks and inexpensive is what makes them good with him.

The Iron Fang Pikemen are a very good choice with pButcher. Put Iron Flesh on them for defense; a DEF 16/ARM 18 wall will give most any opponent a hard time. Fury is useful for taking down targets with a minimum of hits, or just spreading the sweet stabby love.

The IFP are one of the core infantry units for Khador, along with the Winter Guard, and they're darn nice to have around. If you're looking to expand they're a good one.

Another unit that you'll almost certainly get a lot of mileage out of are Widowmakers. The Butcher definitely benefits from having them around. Being able to pick off infantry, kill solos dead, and generally clear they way makes them very useful. You rarely want to throw the Butcher army against a fresh, undamaged opponent. The Widow Makers are great for imposing attrition first.

Full Throttle is very useful and it definitely makes a lot of sense to take 'jacks that will benefit. But the Butcher also needs ranged and the Destroyer, Decimator, and Behemoth are good for that too. And Full Throttle means that if just one and a half jacks charges and take a swing, then you've at least evened out. Don't go overboard trying to max out the theoretical return at the expense of leaving out needed abilities.

Or 2 kodiak for that matter along with MOW.

ok, so based on the replies here's what I've come up with:

pButcher 6 (6wj)
Destroyer9
Devastator9
Kodiak8
Battle Mechaniks (Leader and 3 Grunts)2
Iron Fang Pikemen (Leader and 5 Grunts)5
Iron Fang Pikemen Officer & Standard2
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)4
Widowmaker Marksman2

What do you guys think ?

Why stop at 3 :)

Really, with pButcher I see mainly a support 'caster; he wants 3 'jacks and then a good Iron Flesh and Fury target. Winterguard are an amazing Iron Flesh Target, and IFP are a good choice for both. Then I take two 'jacks for full advantage of Full Throttle. Really, the closest thing to an "autoinclude" are the Widowmakers, which no list is really without.

I like to use jacks and warriors with more than one 'good' attack when fielding pButcher - as his feat is really punishing with more attacks. That said MOW Demos, Great Bears, Manhunters, and all of the 2 weaponed jacks are great.

I would think that the widowmakers are an auto-include. With the marksman, they become (some kind of) a mobile threat. Wardog is another include, actually, more like a point filler.
