lol. I have heard people not likeing to play "with" the printed out cards, but never not like playing against them.
You might not get to play in an event, because between April thru early June will be like that.
Then all hordes all the time probably if the pattern holds true.

*not a rant, just a point of view*
IMO Hordes is dead until the book and cards come out.
Not saying people would do this on purpose, but you know it will happen. My beef is I have no clue what the difference from the first field test card is compared to the "final" version (stuff changed so much). So looking at their card tells me nothing in the way if that is the right card or not.
Guess my point is: WM/Hordes is a game of having to know what the other army can and can't do. If a opponent has a wrong card and I don't know it I am SOL, because I haven't sat down and studied the final release of field test cards let alone try to remember what 100+ models do. With a card from the 2010 MKII decks I know by asking to read the card what is on it is right.
I didn't play the two Merc players at todays Resurgence (http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?t=12018) event but by playing games next to them and looking at what was on the table both of their lists where wrong. Both had Sam & the Devils Dogs in their 35pt list and one 35 & 50 list had Arcane Gun Mages with Magnus. Did they do it on purpose...doubt it, but none of their opponents noticed or knew. So they got shafted if they lost to them IMO.
lol you know how many times (from the last 3 events I was at) I heard "what do you mean you are spending a focus to stand that jack up?" People just don't know all the changes, even when I thought they would have with a big one like that.
Seems like a lot weight on the PG's shoulders to handle making sure the cards are right.

Seems like a lot weight on the PG's shoulders to handle making sure the cards are right.
This is exactly the issue. The determine if the cards are right, they need to print out the how card on one sheet, with the date stamp on the bottom from Privateer Press. If they edit it at all, and a cunning photoshopper can do it, your cards are different. Also, who says that they have to continue using the sheets they showed the PG at the beginning of the event.
Either way, I look forward to seeing Hordes cards.

Exactly what here is worth cheating for?

Exactly what here is worth cheating for?
Some people feel that a tournament is a big deal and get upset about them. So, in dire circumstances, someone may try to cheat the system.
That's all I'm saying.

I expect we will see a good 5 or 6 SR2010 events before hordes official release comes out.
Our local player base is trustworthy, so I'm not really too concerned. I'll have a complete printout of all cards and anyway in case there are any questions.

lol You really don't think some people would not cheat to get a coin??
But that is not what I am talking about here. And I am not saying any of the MKE or Madison player base would do it. We both have great players.
I just like that with the actual 2010 MKII card I can read it and know for a fact how the model works.
I expect we will see a good 5 or 6 SR2010 events before hordes official release comes out.
Yeah it will be interesting to see if the MKII "hype" holds up once peeps can't get their Warmachine coins any more. Then come Sept we will all be playing hordes trying to get our coins for that faction lol!

We typically have 1 event a month in Madison, and usually 1 event a month between chicago/Milwaukee. I expect things will slow down
I did 3 resurgence events in a row, and im tired as hell, and looking forward to no events next weekend )
I wouldnt call MKII 'hype'. People are just having real fun playing the game. The turnout on our game nights is strong as ever, A lot of those people dont go to event or care about prizes. altough I do like shinny things. :)

Should be a good day... SR2010 is a lot of fun, and we have some good prize support.

Just make sure to search his luggage before you hit the road, to make sure that damn lycra suit isn't coming with. It's been two weeks, and I still wake up screaming...
Seriously, it's cool you're coming down:)

Any chance this might start earlier than 11 so we don't end up playing so late? Just wondering....
carnage4u
04-12-2010, 12:13 PM
It too close to change the start time.. 11 is usually pretty good for most players.. A lot of out of town events dont star to Noon or later, and I'm pretty good at getting table assigments setup moments past the start time.
I may try something new and give players X amount of time to setup, and then call Start after that time for overall CLock.. I've seen a trend in the past 5 or 6 events, that the "setup" time for both players is taking a bit too long... I think I could save the event 30minutes to 45 minutes Just doing that.
With signups and talking to people I imagine we will go 4 rounds. Food is VERY close. In the same mini mall. So only 30 minutes for lunch.
most of the madison events have been done by 6pm. Thats pretty good. I know ou havent gone to out of town events with us, but often we dont finish an event to closer to 8 or past.

I thought the event went really well
Started off with 19 players
SR trophies went to the top 3
Jim(absent) from madison with Mercs took #1 (also small cash prize)
Keith(sepher32) from madison with Cryx took #2
Brian (MagicMissile)from MN with Menoth took #3
Brian also won the painted prize (His choice of a print from the PP website)
The event went 5 rounds.
We had 6 from Twin cities come down, as well as 3 from Iowa.
