Hello All,

I was convinced to give Warmachine a try and I just placed an order for a bunch of guys that basically give me a 50 pt list that I thought would be fun.

However, I am wondering what people would run from what I have in smaller games, as that is what I will be starting with as I haven't played a real game yet. I am also curious as to what people recommend I get... after browsing the forums it seems I should have gotten 2 MHA's but oh well.

Here's what I (will) have.
-Warcaster Garryth
-1 Heavy Warjack (magnetized)
-2 Gorgon Warjacks
-1 Unit of Dawnguard Sentinels
-Dawnguard Sentinel UA
-2 Mage Hunter Strike Forces
-2 Soulless Escorts
-2 Ghost Snipers
-1 Mage Hunter Assassin
-Narn
-pEiryss
-Nayl

Thanks!

However, I am wondering what people would run from what I have in smaller games, as that is what I will be starting with as I haven't played a real game yet.Take a Warcaster, a Heavy, your two lights and solos to get up to 15pts. It doesn't really matter what actual choices you make.

Play that for a while, swapping out options at a whim. Learn the game... and make sure your opponents are trying to help you learn - there's nothing worse than trying to build up some skill and getting completely rolled at every move you make.

After a few games you'll know how everything works, then you'll probably want to remove a jack and replace it with some more solos or a unit.

Progressing this way will give you a good understanding of the core of the game, and a better appreciation for the different abilties each model/unit brings to the table.

I am also curious as to what people recommend I get... The Book. With that you can proxy everything else and learn the game and how you want to play it before spending money on more models.

Heh, forgot to mention I already bought the Mark II book (never even saw the first one) and the Retribution book.

Thanks for some tips. Although from what I see from Garryth I wouldn't think he'd particularly benefit from having a bunch of jacks (unless I jack marshall the gorgons)

- The Jacks plus a solo is close to a Bbox type list. So is a very solid start for learning the rules. And the solo options give you some variability to gain a handle on the little extras of the game.

Once you've got a good grasp of the game I imagine you'll replace (at least) one jack with a unit, and then expand to 25pts with a second unit.
