View Full Version : Ambush Reznik List 35pt.

I have been going through my merc models lately and kept coming back to Anastatia. I had some success with her MK1 when espionage was a beatch to pull off and want to give her a go in MK2. So i came up with a first striking Reznik list with her in it(he is my current caster i am working on mastering). Any thoughts or ideas to improve this are very welcome as i want to bring it to a tourney next week...

I figure i want to go first to set up a assasination run with my daughters or Errants turn 2. Since half my list AD i figure once i see where the enemy caster is i can place my daughters and orrick on a straight beeline for them with the EE slightly flanking to make better use of their bows and to second wave, but still get orricks :Pathfinder:. While my opponnet focuses on my AD caster threat the jacks and bastions with reznik can follow up through the chaos they cause. I hope my opponent puts his caster somewhere within Anastatia espionage threat range as if i go first i will either be charging his caster with my daughters and maybe getting a kill with them and espionage will then give me another round of attacks which i hope to catch my errants in her cmd rng too so they can either shoot the caster or kill off stuff with :Weapon-Master: attacks.
Seems like a solid enough plan, but theory can only go so far. Let us know how it goes. I haven't been brave enough to base an army on Anastasia, though the army looks like it could do well enough without her.

I played my above list vs Khador at the LGs the other night to test it out he had:
Forward Kommander Sorscha

Juggernaut

Man-o-war Shocktroopers (Leader and 2 Grunts)
Widowmakers (Leader and 3 Grunts)
Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios
Widowmaker Marksman
Yuri the Axe
So to start offf i lost the roll to go first (which i wanted to do) by rolling a 1 +1(anastatia) to his 4. He deployed on a hill my right flank with everything but eiryss, yuri and the reavers. Those he put reavers in the middle, with yuri and eiryss on my left flank. I stack my errants extreme right, daughters right and saxon between. Bastions center reznik behind them and vanquisher to the right. Avatar to the left after yuri and eiryss. He goes runs his reavers up middle, runs eiryss way up and yuri slightly behind her. Marksmen advances and takes out one daughter. Juggy advances, decimator advances, shocktroopers advances shieldwalled, marksmen advance, sorscha advances with the dog and casts something on herself i forget what. I go run daughters to engage marksmen and solo, run errants up the flank near his army, run saxon behind a tree(tiny terrain piece). Vanquisher walks shoots at doomies, misses as they are about 4" out of range, i get good deviation direction and distance and hit 4 killing 3 and setting 1 on fire as he has them close together. Avatar runs and gazes to just get eiryss within his reach but no attacks cause he ran. Bastions run lightly skewing right allong with Reznik.
Turn 2 (things get ugly for me)
He goes windrushes Sorscha, pops her feat and gets daughters and errants and autokills one daughter. Jugy charges and kills 3 daughters solo, marksman solo kills last. marksmen go and autokill 4 errants and decimator advances and auto kills last 2 errants (there goes my whole anastatia, AD daughter errants espionage strat). Troopers run up infront of marksmen and juggy. Gazed eiryss sidesteps on avatar to open yuri a charge lane and puts on no dmg to avatar. Yuri charges and does 8 total to avatar. Fire goes out on Doomy and they run to engage vanquisher with one setting others up to counter charge next turn. My turn goes and i ambush anastatia onto the board. Right side. Avatar goes and squishes eiryss and yuri. Vanquisher goes advances up and kills the doomy(probably should have trampled). Bastions go and run near vanquisher reznick follows. saxon moves up and shoots at sorscha and misses. anastai goes advances in front of sorscha by about 4" pops espionage (gets vanquisher and bastions), vanquisher moves lobs a shot at sorscha's war dog (he was b2b with her and had def15 to her 20) misses but only deviates one inch getting her the dog and marksmen solo. bastions go and engage doomies killing one, reznik camps and follows up.
Too make the rest of the report short, vanquisher gets wrecked, juggy gets beat up, shock troopers die to bastions, avatar never gets back in the fight, 2 of the bastions end up dead, with the last 3 at 1 wound each, reznik takes 2 points from marksmen, anastatia gets taken out by sorscha, Saxon dies to decimator, decimator doesn't get scratched, and best of all Sorscha Dies to fire in 3 turns.
So my initial strat to use daughters and errants with anastatia on the second turn to mess up his caster or army with attacks plus espionage attacks utterly failed but because of the extra moves and attacks i got another shot at sorscha that ultimiately killed her and got a few more hits in and bettered my postioning with my remaining units.
I think Her true power from espionage comes into play well with menoth cause we tend to brick up so more people can be caught in ther cmd rng. Plus it basically gives everything in that area a move and attack which is a very powerful force multiplier, especially if you have lost alot of your force. It is pretty much a mini-feat you can pop more than once if you get lucky.

Never mind, I'm slow today. i was trying to add up the points and forgot to max out the bastions. and came out 3 points shy. This list sounds tasty though.. I'd love to have a vassal in there, but I guess you can't have everything you want all the time, eh?

They are both along the same theme so should be good practice with Anastatia. No one really plays her here so should be a suprise for quite a few people and hopefully i can use it to catch most people offguard.
Any thoughts on the feora list would be appreciated...

Any ideas on how to extend the Reznik list to 50pts?
I'm probably fighting Cygnar, and my initial thought is fill out the errants, throw in a choir and a devout to keep my vanquisher and reznik from being shot, a vassal for an extra shot from the vanq, and ... well, hell, vilmon's always fun to psychologically terrorize my opponent. so it would look like:

Remeber espionage says model?unit so you can spread out the range units and only clip a model in the unit the whole unit benifits, I plan on maximizing my AD troops so that i can keep my opponent back n his deployment zone while my slower units move up to take objectives. then use Anastatia second turn if possible to force multipluy my units attacks with either range or melee, thus the idrians with UA cause they are another hybrid unit.

Few results here. I ran the my 50 point list last weekend against two lists, a Siege list and an Old Witch list. Both players kept everybody in the dead center of the board so it was very difficult to get Anastasia in there. The Siege list tried to pick as much of me apart as possible, but the Avatar ended up charging Siege and laying him out. The list didn't really shine, nor did it do badly. Against the Old Witch, she popped her feat on turn two and my army slid to a halt, except for the Vanquisher who walked forward and shot Scrapjack twice in the head, setting the Old Witch on fire. She burnt to death two rounds later. Again, did well, but the list really didn't do much.
Last night I ran the original 35 point list against a very good Khador player using eIrusk. Top of turn two had his Iron Fangs in combat with the Errants, his Spriggan and Juggernaut in charge range of both the Bastions and both 'jacks, the Daughters out threatening a flank, and Irusk's feat was up so I couldn't charge or give orders. The rest of the game was both of us just smashing each others faces in the dead center of the board... both the Vanquisher's and the Avatar's weapons were destroyed when they were charged, mechanics were used to tie up my Bastions in combat, Anastasia got the Daughters over to Irusk, but with his 17 DEF with the dog I couldn't hit him so it was moot. The end of the game was Irusk, a compltely unhurt Spriggan, Kovnik Joe (and a mortar and field gun way in the backfield) vs. Reznik. Guess how that turned out.
