View Full Version : 2x 25pt Tourny lists

Hey guys,
Just got a couple lists im taking to a local tourny and was wondering what opinions are, and if anyone has any recomendations to make the lists more efficient.

The first:

Kaelyssa +7
Chimera - 6
Mage Hunter Strike Force - min - 5
Mage Hunter Strike Force UA - 2
Nyss Hunters - min - 7
Invictors - min - 6
Invictors UA - 2
pEiryss - 3
31pts

The idea behind this one is to make loads of use of cover, and generally deny charge by being behind things, as well as feat if im caught out. The invtors serve as my brick/main line that doesnt really move much.
The plan really is to arc backlash into a jack, have arcane reckoning on the mage hunters and let them ping one or two points of damage per shot, all the while damagin the opponent caster.
So far have had two games with this list, first game my opponent had only one jack, the avatar, which is pointless so I just ignored it and worked my way through his massed infantry.
Second game I killed Stryker on turn 3, would have suffered not losses if it werent for a thunderhead auto hitting special action removing nearly all of my mage hunters.
I was thinking of dropping Eiryss and the chimera and putting in a phoenix (lord knows theyr awesome) but I dont feel it would fit, I love the cheek of apparition moving my chimera out of combat only to arcantrik bolt it so all my shots hit, meaning more damage on the caster ;P

Second List is a melee alternative to that one, using my favourite caster:

Garryth + 5
Phoenix - 10
Mage Hunter Strike Force - min - 5
Mage Hunter Strike Force UA - 2
Mage Hunter Assassin - 2
Mage Hunter Assassin - 2

Arcanist - 1
Arcanist - 1
Nayl - 2
Dawnguard Scyir - 2
30pts.

This list is a little less subtle. Plan is for phoenix to engage and combust hit defense things, aparition upkept on it from the start. strike force does its usual good stuff, and the assassins flank or move towards things they can one shot and move off. (usually as a team)
Two Arcanists are there because once fighting gets rough, one can give +2 to dam and one can repair.
Nayl I love, I throw him at the opponent caster, so its either kill him and not cast any spells, or dont kill him, but no offensive spells anyway and next turn hell hit you :P
The scyir solo i love, MAT 10 + 4d6 damage on charge jus for bein near the phoenix? awesome! However not being stealthed he does tend to die before he gets in, so hes the one id most be up for listening to suggestions about.

i have limited experiance with K though i usualy run a ph + chim and a bunch of other lights and solos. i don't fancy the nyss or invictors with her but have not used either. epic eiryss is mad with K, prime goes after the enemy warcaster as usuale but epic disrupts jacks combined with K's arcanic bolt you can make jacks stationary an disrupted in fairly large numbers

nayl is sick i agree, the arcanist seem out of place 2 is over kill i would only put in 1 if i had a point left over to help with garry's focues efficiency, the scyir is overkill aswell you don't have neough jacks to nessesitate him for the 2 points you could make this a teir list and get another MHA. sentinals with mirage are psycho not the first time i have said this. and i have found lights work very well with garry a big heavy running up the middle of the field is one thing but a swarm of lights with half a dozen flanking assasins is garryth.

just about everything in the ret is an assasin one way or another with K and garry go for the throat these casters and their solos do the killing while the army does the dying.

I rate your 1st list phil just keep Kaelyssa out of the way of siege next time.

Kaelyssa does really well with a phoenix or hydra with phantom seeker on it. I would find a way to give her at least one.

If the tournament also includes Hordes you may find that the MHSF units are not as optimal. I would replace with a shooty unit that can :Combined-Ranged: or the Stormfall Archers.

The Scyir does nothing to help Garryth. Also 1 arcanist for the single jack is plenty. I would take those points and add Narn for more assassination threats.
