Hi,
Upcoming 25 point tournament. Will likely be playing Vlad, maybe another Cryx, a Retribution, and maybe some Cygnar and Hordes (not sure what kind). I'm the only experienced player, so I'm looking to win, and maybe introduce some of the locals to just how heinous Cryx can be.
It's not clear whether the games will be scenario, caster-kill, or some combo of both. Community is just starting up, and it likely won't be formal steamroller. I need lists with the potential for both assasination and scenario / control point style games. I'm also looking to stay with painted models, 'cause I'm one of THOSE people.
Two lists I'm looking at:
Gaspy
Skarlock
Deathripper, Nightwretch and Defiler
Cankerworm
Full McThralls
Withershadow Combine
Necrotech and Scrapthrall or Machine Wraith
Basic plan here is to present a mix of threats - Gaspy's own potential via arc node or in person, with the Canker and Combine running a tag team, backing up the arc nodes, 'jack hunting, and ideally, pullling off Dark Industries. McThralls run interference, Necrotech keeps the arc nodes up and running.
Second option is:
eDennie
Nightwretch
Deathripper
Nightmare
Skarlock
Full McThralls
2 Pistol Wraiths
A little more board control here, with multiple assassination threats. Less direct threat from the warcaster, but Nighmare is a monster with eDennie, and she can give the thralls the mobility and DEF debuffs they need to be dangerous. Double wraiths give something to work with Marked for Death, and also add a little interference with death chill.
One thing I've considered is adding the Necrosurgeon to give the Thralls a little more durability, especially if I'm going to be holding points. In the first list, I'd swap the combine for the Necro, Gorman, and either add a Machine Wraith or try to get a Siren painted up by Sunday. In the eDennie list, I'd swap a wraith for the Necrosurgeon and a Necrotech.
While I own most Cryx stuff, painted options are currently limited. I could get a solo done in the time I have, but not much more. I can swap around some arc nodes, but that's about it for options.
Thoughts on these lists? Sufficient playstyle flexibility? Anything glaring I'm overlooking?
