Cryx vs Retribution (35 point game)
Lich Lord Terminus forces continued to ravage the land, gathering souls and bodies to feed the ever increasing necrotic mass. The passage of this great devourer caused singular deformities across the very fabric of the magical weave that covered the land.
A small detachment of Retibution Elves was dispatched to halt the destructive progress of the cryxian swarm. Kaelyssa led a unit of mage hunter assassins, including their attachment which provided them with magical arrows capable of hitting a foe without even seeing them. Eyriss acompanied the warcaster, which ran with some light warjacks, ghost snipers, and some magisters.
Terminus continued with his insect like build. Two full units of Mechanithralls with full Brute Thrall attachment were the brunt of the force. Two Necrosurgeons followed behind them reconstructing dead bodies as they passed. A deathripper was led by the Deathjack scanning the horizon for possible foes, while a necrotech verified the functionality of the jacks, adjusting for tear and wear.
The Elven trap was sprung with incredible coordination. Kaelyssa's arc node move into the deathjack's range, channeling magical energies that caused feedback into the warcaster. A stream of magical arrows flew at that moment, injuring the hellish jack several times. Such was the power of the magic cast on the evil machine that the lich lord suffered wound all over his body.
Whispering a curse, Terminus ordered his army forward at a run. The animated bonejack moved into the range of the Mage Hunters. Half the unit of elves died horribly as a storm of nether magic exploded in their midst. The souls of the fallen fed the warcaster increasing his capacity for damage. Even though the nightmare empire ran into their midst the retribution troopers held their place... until the Deathjack made his entrance into the foray. The robotic abomination broke the will of the elves, which cowered breaking their tactical advantage... Even if its tattered state his evil magics permeated the enviroment.
Kaelyssa mounted a counter attack ordering her jacks to engage and batter the cryx forces. The broken bodies of several thralls fell to the floor as the alien like machines destroyed them with their attacks.... Even more wounds were caused on the lich when the Deathjack lost its arms and cortex on the onslaught... yet.... the tattered winged warcaster had an ace up his hand...
Both necrosurgeons moved with alacrity and healed the undead lord which recovered almost completely under their skilled hands. Machine wraiths possed the bodies of the remaining warjacks, liberating the undead scourge from retaliating strikes as they moved out of reach. Terminus moved his dog-like arc node and devoured the souls of all, but one mage hunters. Now filled with power the cryxian warcaster extended his wings and glided unto the position were the Kaelyssa had been.... finding nothing there...
Knowing that this fight was a lost cause, the retribution warcaster decided to retreat. Almost all her troops had died on the failed trap, and Terminus had shaken off all the damage she had been able to inflict. Martyrdom had never been her goal in life...
There will be other times when to stop the cryxian... a battle was lost, but never the war.
