Sentry stones didn't make it past the 2nd turn of either of my games today. their stone was a magnet for shooting. the manikins only managed to make one forest in each game, and got shot up otherwise.

The 6" command really makes it almost impossible to use the manikins effectively even with the fury costing phase ability. It forces you to have the stone far to close to your manikins and not at a safe range.

with a DEF 5 and ARM 18 most shooting will hit and since most shooting is POW 10 that takes a damage roll of 9 or more to damage the stone. if the shot is boosted it can die in one turn. (or on turn two as i was attempting to get it into position now that the AD is shorter.)

The stone being an officer cannot for obvious reason besides the rule be field promoted, however that would be funny for a manikin just to suddenly become a stone HE HE HE :).

Something needs to be done, i suggest the following:

1. make the stone "stealth" or give it back "made of stone".
2. increase the cmd range for the stone to 10 it is a stone after all and the unit is fearless it should be a 10
3.make the devouring ability a skill check again and allow it to be able to remove fury from freindly beasts. this would allow the manikins more versatility against WM and help with fury management in circle which this faction lacks.

I have only used the Sentry Stone in one game so I do need to use it more. they need a bigger cmd that is a fact. I'm not concerned about POW 10 RNG attacks. But if your manikins can hit something in melee then your Sentry Stone is WAY to close as most melee attack will kill them.

10" would make me more comfortable but I would be happy with 8". It is just my personal opinion but I like the devouring ability as is. Stealth would be cool but hard to fit in 3 points.

Make the stone spend a fury point to gain Stealth for one round.

Other then that the stone is fine.

Not a bad idea.

How about you just use a mannikin to pop into a forest in front of the mannikin and block it from LOS

In 50 point games I use 2 in every list, and have never regretted it.

the way i have been using them is, first or second turn depending on how fast you're closing the distance. pop and drop all 6 of the manikins for 18" of forest across your front line, removing all line of sight to your army for a turn, giving you greater control of the board and who strikes first. Afterwards I try to just put them in charge lanes to screw up my opponents movement and devour fury/focus, not really caring if I get any more manikins out.

They were my game winning allstars against ol'rowdy and its counter charge.

Because when you have a 10'+ range you can shimmy an inch to either side and see around the forest. Or if you have multiple shooters then just pick the one whose LOS isn't obstructed by trees. As well as any unit with Hunter.

With stealth it would require a unit with specific abilities to shoot at it from range and not just geometry.

I agree that a 10 CMD is needed for this model, and also stealth. losing invisability and made of stone makes this model easy pickings for the enemy.
