My son's Khador powered pinewood derby car

I moved the pics from another post today since I don't think many would see it in the thread it was in.

Ok here are some pics of my son's car. Sorry about the quality. My wife is out of town this week and she took the good camera with all the settings. I hope I can get these up and not too big since I haven't done this before.

I thought this car was a much cooler design than the one he did last year. I helped him cut out the mouth and had him use a pin vise for the teeth placement. I did some touch ups on the drive and made the gear shift for his hand but don't know it that shows up well in the pics. I thought he had the best and most original design but a panel of moms were the judges and I think the top designs picked reflected that. All the dads thought his car rocked.

But how did it do in the actual racing? They do still race the things, don't they?

Well, it was the fastest car he's made to date. He got 2nd in the den but only 1st got to move on due to the number of dens in the pack. His got the scariest car award but nothing for design. The top 3 in design got to go to the district finals. The 3 winning cars where these, a basic car but with a red white and blue paint job with USA on the front, a car that was shopped out to say GO VOLS and painted orange and another car that was black and made using a kit anyone can buy at Hobby Town USA. Now maybe being the father and know how much of the work my son did on the car doesn't let me judge this impartially but I think he was robbed.

Obviously, a red paint job would've made it go fasta and take 1st ;)

Yeah I suggested red but he wanted green but said the red lightning bolts would do the trick. It was his car so who was I to say. His car the year before was red so maybe he just wanted a change.
