Hello everyone;
I was wondering how many of you here have done weapon modifications, and if you might be able to help me out. As you've all probably seen, the Centurion's spear is a bit lacking, and I'd like to extend its length to a more appreciable and respectable size. Is there anyone here who may be able to suggest a way to go about doing this?
I remember someone posting a spear extension programme for a warjack in the past, but I cannot seem to dig it up...

I have to disagree, the spear is brutal, beefy and mean looking. I love it. It's exactly what a spear wielded by a steel monstrosity, for facestabbing other steel monstrosities, should look like. Anything longer would just look frail and less brutal.
BUT my 2 cents aside, if you want to do it, I think the tutorial you are thinking of is on the Brush Thralls site, with pretty detailed instructions. IIRC, you just pin the spear to be longer, and use greenstuff to putty in the "grip" detail.
I'd just head over to their site and check it out.

I'm firmly in the camp that the piston spear needs extending. I'd imagine the easiest way to go about it would be to cut off the spear tip from the main body of the weapon, and then get a suitably thick pin and cut to the desired length and reattach the spear tip to the main body of the weapon.
There was a spear extension tutorial on the Brushthralls website which I followed before they updated their site.
Unfortunately it looks like the article hasn't survived the update unless someone else can find it.
The method was to cut off the speadhead and the butt of the spear.
Cut away the remaining spear shaft and discard.
Driil a hole in the hand and stick some brass rod through.
The tricky bit was wrapping greenstuff around the brass rod and texturing it with a modelling tool.
Then cap the rod with the speadhead and spear butt.
I have a picture here.

If nobody can find the original article I can try and explain how to texture the spear shaft but it is quite hard to explain without pictures of each step.

In general, any of the old Brushthralls articles which did not get moved to the new site may still be found at http://archive.brushthralls.com/ (http://archive.brushthralls.com/).

I did it using the old tutorial, but mine look nowhere near as good as yours, sanj. After finishing my two, I came to the conclusion that a better way to do it would be to just cut the spearhead and butt off of the spear, leaving the original grip for the Centurion's hand to hold, and use some brass rod or tubing (preferably rod, so you can pin it) of the right thickness to extend the spear. No messing about trying to get the right texture, or get the grip to be perfectly round!
If you're feeling ambitious, you could also put a ring around where the rod and the original spear meet, and sculpt something going from the ring partway up the rod, like some 'reinforcements' or curved sloping ...somethings every 90degrees or something.
