View Full Version : Can we force Frenzy checks?

Agonizer drops THR now instead of forcing a check. Makeda still has a spell to lower THR... We have a couple of models that can add/remove fury on hits.

But as far as I can tell we can no longer force checks before leach rendering these extremely situational. Considering players are less likely to run hot and more likely to keep durable support beasts on the backline given the slew of "fury mechanic" changes these powers are rendered pretty worthless.

I can see you pouring these powers on a slammed or headbutted model to keep it from shaking off. This will be hard to do with the agonizer.

Thoughts? Have I overlooked anything?

I'd like to see the Agonizer's Gnawing Pain changed back, drop the Maddening all together and keep Spritual Affliction as is. I'm definitley going to playtest him, I just don't see him being the debuff bane he was (a sentiment I think we share about a lot of our models now, which is a valid overarching design shift... nobody wants to feel hogtied I suppose). I expected his powers to become a pulse, despite the paperwork that generates.

Hexeris (much maligned since the Field Test dropped) can still force a frenzy check with his offensive upkeep spell The Suffering.

It's not before leaching, of course, but a frenzy check is still a frenzy check (in fact, now more than ever).

Knock things down?

Shake off forces a threshold check, and that combo with the Agonizer was the first exploit I tried out.

For the record, its hard to keep a Titan's slam or throw target in range of the Agonizer's aura so it's pretty hard to pull off. I guess you could do it with a simple head-butt and eat the frenzy attack though...

I'll try that next.


Edit: But of course it doesn't work because you don't need to Shake off a head butt. That would be why I didn't try it already.

Played right the Agonizers aura can extend 9", and can't you still use one of the abilites and still run the Agonizer?

Yes, you can still use an agony and then run.

Funny, I was just thinking about this topic, thanks for clarifying the synergy here. It makes sense to slam if your strategy is to knock a beast down and force a THR check.

If the few games I've played Gnawing Pain so far seems to just cancel out the +2 buffs the other team puts on their beasts, so if you're already outstatted it's not really a help.

I didn't ever see a reason for dropping THR but maybe this is ok. Slam them out of melee with the Gladdy, pop Subdue and run your agonizer to within 9".
