Thanks to Watts, Ryan gains stealth when hiding in the AOE of her Mage Storm. I'm wondering if Watts and Lynch can get in on that trick, as I remember someone saying something about placed AOE's on your own models not doing anything because the AOE disappears in the maintenence phase or something like that.

Can I throw the Mage Storm on all three members of the B13 and not have them take damage?

Only Ryan has wording that makes her immune to mage storm's damage effect.

I think only Ryan is immune to the damage. So if they survived the blast (on a roll of 3 or less) they would gain stealth.

Heh. Never open rules threads then post when you are done with your sandwich.

Not sure on the definition of "entering" in Mk2, but assuming that it requires moving into during their activation, you could push them in after their activation to have them gain stealth, and then it would end before they activated again... Not sure if that still works in mk2 though...

I remember someone mentioning dropping a LG+UA Suppressive Fire template on top of their Stormblades to prevent an enemy charge. The 'blades didn't take damage from the template for some reason having to do with activation order and the AOE being removed during the maintenance phase. I have no idea if I'm just making this up, but it seems like it might apply to Ryan's Mage Storm if I'm not going crazy and pulling rules out of my ***. ;)

The difference is that Suppressing Fire does no damage when the AOE is initially placed, only if you enter it or end activation in it. So as long as the stormblades activate and then you place the AOE on top of them, they're fine.

Not so with Mage Storm since it does POW 12s on initial placement.

When Mage Storm is dropped, everything in it takes the pow 12.

Anything entering in the cloud takes a pow 12 and anything that ends it's turn in the cloud takes a pow 12.

There's no step in which they could be in the cloud, but not subject to having taken a hit at least at one point.

It is different than TCGs or LGs order. The only way you could get SBs into a Mage Storm cloud without taking damage would be by somehow moving the cloud after their activation. To my knowledge, nothing moves clouds.
