Out of formation Rangers?

A unit of rangers decides to run, one of them runs 14" towards the enemy and the rest of the unit including the leader runs 14" the other direction. (I think this is legal with the new formation rules, I can see nothing that requires me to try to be in formation.)

Now this is going to place the poor lone ranger well out of formation, so next turn he has to try to get back in formation and all that.

The question is, while he is hanging out there well out of formation does he still provide the Mark target bonus?

Looks like he would, since Mark Target isn't an action, attack, or other thing that is specifically called out as being disallowed while out of formation.
