Noticing from the transition from Mark 2 Field Test -> Mark 2 prerelease previews for Warmachine I noticed that the FTs are far from complete. It is entirely possible that there are some models in the pip that have balance considerations that we are not aware of.

Curently Troll beasts jump from 6 point lights to 9 point heavies, we also have no 4 point beast option. This could be perceived as a weakness of the faction at some level but the question we could ask ourselves is. Are these things coming?

Scattergunners seem a little lacking in "interesting" but a UA or unit associated solo could change that.

The overall "reduction" in rules bloat appears to give PP a bit more "Wiggle room" when creating new models (this room being "reclaimed").

So while it seems as some things are lacking, and I am sure there are a few things out there that need to be changed 9and shoot who knows FT feedback may effect final rules on the additional Mk. 2 models)

Not sure why I'm posting these thoughts, but it kind of hit me when I placed the model price information into my spreadsheets and noticed the gaps in price-points for troll beasts.

PP has certainly said that they are keeping in mind some additional models for each faction when doing MKII.

As for UA's the sky is the limit. The KW's are all set. But we could see UA's for the Pyg units, the Scattergunners, etc. The new Champions could even get a UA option. We will have to wait and see...

While this is a good point, it does not change my estimation of the current beasts. Some of the lights are still overpriced.

And if anything, a possible 4pt beast on the horizon devalues a lot of the already high cost beasts. I would not use a number of them if there was cheaper options.

We cannot playtest models with a vague idea that we might get something new to boost them. We need to playtest them with the information we have on hand right now and how they work within that context.

I already had this thought when I first read the FT cards and saw that the KSB had not changed to be able to take fury from beasts. Surely I thought, there must be a solo/unit on the way to help us manage our fury load when the other factions have access to that sort of thing. But some recent comments about trolls and fury management have made me doubt the arrival of any such reinforcements.

The intention of the Field Test is that you test the models that are included in the Field Test without concern for what may come later. While there may be a model/unit in the works that fills a particular role, that possibility cannot and should not be a consideration during the Field Test. If your testing highlights a hole in your army's capabilities, please let us know.
