I just got a new set of Retribution models today and noticed the force field stat on the cards. How is this used, because i cant find it anywhere.

The force field takes damage before the hull and systems take damage. For instance, if you have 5 force field boxes, and an opponent does 8 points of damage on location 6, you would take 5 to the force field then 3 to location 6.

Does it ALWAYS get damaged first no matter where the damage is rolled?

Yes, unless there is a special rule.

pg. 64 of Warmachine MKII:
Force Fields
Some warjacks, notably Retribution myrmidons, have two
damage tracks: a set of boxes representing their force fields
and another representing their damage grids. Mark the field
boxes before marking the damage grids.
Example: When damage is dealt to column 2, mark damage
first in the force field boxes and then in column 2 if the force
field is filled (even if the column was chosen by the attacker
as a result of a special rule such as Eiryss’ Death Bolt).
When damage must be dealt simultaneously to each
column, mark damage to the force field boxes first (damage
from the first column, damage from the second column, and
so on). If all of the field’s boxes are filled, mark remaining
damage to the last columns.

basic rule of thumb is:
Damage to a column goes to shields first-normal damage, death bolt, sniper, ect.
Damage to a system ignores shield- such as lancers shock shield effet damage to cortex

Another force field rule - a warjack may spend 1 focus once during it's activation to regenerate d3 points to it's force field. That's dependent on the generator being up, so once it goes down, no more regeneration (until your arcanist repairs it).

Where is that rule printed? I used the index in Prime MKII and couldn't find it.

Forces of Warmachine: Retribution of Scyrah, pg. 55 covers Myrmidons and gives the rule for Regenerating the Force Field.
"Once per turn during its activation, a Myrmidon can spend 1 focus point to remove d3 damage points from its field damage track unless its Field Generator is crippled."

Pg 66 doesn't cover regenerating the Force Field, just how to apply damage. It is alluded to under Crippling Systems;Field Generator, but not as specific as the FoW: RoS entry.

So if I read this correctly, the attacker still rolls for the collumn that takes damage if the forcefield is completely filled? I thought I read somewhere on these forums the controlling player chooses the column.

The attacker rolls column as normal with any damage roll however the damage is only applied to that column only after all field boxes are filled.

Bumping threads is bad.
