Gorten kicks butt!!

So tonight was my first proper gaming night,i've spent the last 2 weeks assembling and painting Merc's as i don't like gaming with unpainted models,so I arrange 2 games against 2 Vet players.
First battle was against Cyngar and was close going as i hadn't done my homework on Cyg forces and found out the hard way that Caine is actually quite good at shooting but after getting too cocky my oppenent left Caine in the open and I charged in with Gorten and showed him the errors of his ways :)

Second battle was against Menoth and my oppenent said "i ain't gonna go easy on ya just cos ya new...."(which made victory taste just a little sweeter hehe) so first turn we just moved towards each other taking potshots,same with second but then he tryed to flame Gorten and missed leaving his caster only protected by a light jack so i pulled feat and stamped on him with Driller in combat and 2 gunners shooting him.

All in all two very good games and as i'm the only person with merc's at our club (theres now 11 people that play WM) i have a list of people that wanna battle.

One of our club members play Gorten and is planning on taking him to a tournament, he is a very nasty Caster and I expect him to do well at tournaments with his feat.

Coupled with the gun bunnies he becomes quite lethal for assassinations.

I was kinda hoping there was a river or a lake as scenery on the field so i could push the jack's in,especially the Menoth player so i could ask him how he was going to flame me :):)

It was raining,it always rained in this part of the country,but Gorten's spirits were high after his last couple of victories and his coffers were full and so on the way back to home he was surprised to see a Khador force approaching from the west...
As they drew closer he could see they had no intention of slowing so he rallied his troops and prepared for battle althrough confident of his men he was nervous of the force that faced him.
Closer still they came and suddenly he heard a warcry bellow across the field as a unit of bare chested warriors carrying the strangest of swords came belting down his right flank so quickly calling to Herne he started to quicken his pace towards the left.Herne noticed the commotion but didn't hesitate to call on Jonne who with a smug grin fired off a volley of shells that dropped 3 of madmen in its wake.
Seeing the three jack's were all of heavy configuration Gorten sent two gunners up the left flank and his Driller straight up the middle hoping to draw the khador jacks into a crossfire position and when they were nearly on top of each other he conjured up the ground beneath them to pull them into his trap leaving a female warcaster in the open by herself.Gorten smiled to himself seeing the warcaster panic when she saw what was going to happen but fate was on her side.
The mad warriors had survived the intial bombardment and went into a berserk charge which resulted in the untimely death of Herne and Jonne which left a nice hole in Gorten's defences which Thor valiantly tried to plug with his gunner and his flamer but again the warriors survived...
While the crashing of metal and beating of fists were continuing in the middle with the Driller putting up a good fight the two gunners got into postion and opened fire into the caster.One missed sending his shot way of course but the second hit on target and hurt the women quite badly.As she fled to the cover of her jack's Gorten failed to notice his loyal friend fall under the weight of the madmen and by the fates of the gods was quick enough to raise his hammer to block the incoming attack that would have taken his head clean off.
Gorten was back pedalling now blocking and defending against the onslaught of the sword welding man,the sword seemed to shimmer with faces that Gorten couldn't recongise and was beginning to think it was all over when suddenly he was able to land a strike that toppled the warrior.Breathing heavily he fell back against a low stone wall and watched as his driller was torn to pieces.
When the warjack decended on him he was ready and was able to block a few blows but suddenly he saw the caster creep up behind him and for some reason he seemed to be frozen to the spot.Unable to move he was convinced he saw the Warjack smile at him and was certain that this was going to be his fate so conjuring up all his spirit he forced himself to charge the women who had come to watch his demise and althrough the jack's hit contacted him as he turned his back his armour took most of the damage he was able to force his hammer into the casters belly.
Convinced he had won the day Gorten staggered only to see the women rise slowly onto one knee and plunge her weopen threw his chest.The last words he heard were "Nice try merc scum".....

nice piece of fiction i cant wait for the next piece after our game i think it goes "gorten died horribly with kreoss laughing over his broken form" lol only joking nothing like a bit of banter to make a game more exciting

Nice piece of fluff. Working on a piece of fluff myself, so hopefully that'll be done soon, and I'll be posting it in the fan fiction section of the forums.
