What are you thoughts for this model so far in mk2 ?

Tested him so far and find him an excellent solo or light beast hunter. He is nice vs infantry also because of his high def and reach. Can't hurt much any heaves but still have great animus. For now i think he is really worth his 4p cost. :):):)

Even though the Totem Hunter and the Raek serve similar purposes, I think the Raek's fantastic animus puts it over the top.

I need to get another.

But the damage output is very low. Well, maybe not very, but low. I liked the sustained attack tail thing.

I may have to go out and buy one, just to get some serious slams in play.

Low damage out of a 4 pt Warbeast isn't so bad. It should probably be the rule, not the exception, no?

he has a pow 12 for 4 pts.. he has good animus and he can go fight some infantry too or finish off a wounded something.

As long as I already have 1 shredder in the army I prefer a reak to buying 2 more shredders. It hits almost as hard, almost as accurate (more accurate if you need it to) from further away.

I haven't fielded a MkII list that didn't contain a Raek. The animus, especially on the immune-to-free-strikes Warlocks (eLylyth and Rhyas) feels almost like cheating. Spray off the two or three closest enemy models with Shadow Stalk and casually saunter away if they charge. If they don't (and I feel sure that people will eventually learn not to :)), then they either refuse to move the model at all, or risk the Shadow Stalk moves exposing their warcaster/lock to Rhyas.

Plus, the little guy still has a 5" place that dodges free strikes. I can't find anything bad about him. He does hit pretty weak, but at a glance through the Hordes Mk II rules, he doesn't hit much weaker than the average light warbeast (lights seem to run 11-13 for the most part, with some noteworthy exceptions). He's also got better MAT than the Carnivean - a POW12 that hits is way better than a POW 18 that whiffs :)

Thumbs up from me.

I love the new raek.

Hes effective, he's got a great range (13", going through walls if theyre in the right place) and he hits just hard enough to mess up solos and lingering warcasters.

What I also like is that hes not good enough to make people cry cheese at me when I smack something up with him.

I wish the teraphs makeover was as good. Same with the nephalim. (I'm now off to make a separate discussion about them, to not derail the thread).

The Raek is like a big surprise for most people I have played against thus far. Doesn't look impressive, but deadly in doing its job. The new bounty hunters PP just released needs to take a page out of the Raek's book.

I love the Raek now. The animus is great, but I miss my Seize ability with his teeth.
