Posting this thread over from the old forums.

I wouldn't consider myself an expert painter, but I like doing a good job, and I like advice and feedback - cuz it takes me frikin' ages to decide on, and complete, colour schemes.

Will probably use this post to link to relevant future posts.


Anyways, I've got nothing new to post up... having changed forces with the 'release' of MkII, and been building as opposed to painting.

And I'm stumped on colour schemes for half of these. For the Khador BBox I'm going to stick with my old 5th border legion colours. I'm leaning towards a Fort Falk scheme, but am far from convinced. All I know is I don't want to do blue again, nor anything too outlandish - if I could figure out a nice white scheme I'd be happy. I find decent colour schemes for RoS had to come up with, I'm leaning towards a light/white grey armour, Dark grey cloth and Sanguine secondary colour... but can't seel myself on anything. The winterguard force I'd like to do in some traditional scheme, but red seems a little too gaudy, and white either a little too clean or a little to messy/sloppy.So any suggestions would be appreciated.

Those cygnar banners are really nice. For your Khador, Vlad stands out from the mix. He looks like he needs some washes to blend in with the rest of the army. He just looks like he isn't complete compared to the other models. Everything else looks great! Keep it up.

That is a lot of Khador Jacks. I like your results. The only thing I don't like is the facing markers for your shredders. Some are nice lines, others are blobs. Other than that, your forces look pretty sweet.

I actually own very little of the above stuff anymore. Sold it to fund new armies ;)
WRT shredder face markings - that was actually a semi progress shot, the modles were finished, but I did go back and tidy all the lines.


I hope to have something new painted up within the next month...
...if it wasn't raining here a bunch of things would be being primed tonight. :(

TBH, I hadn't even considered primary grey with secondary white... thats definitely an idea to mull over.

I'd really like to go an official scheme, but I really don't think they'll end up looking any good on a WG force.

Look near the back of NQ15. They have a pic of Khador in a white scheme that would look amazing (and be "official"). Heck, if I buy Khador they are definately going in that scheme! :D

I've seen it, that is a very nice picture. Initially I was very tempted to try that colour scheme, but the more I thought about it, the more I felt it would work in pictures, but not on models. Everything would either look to gray, or far to white.

I don't plan on painting my Khador for a while though now. And if I'm being honest, I'm actually tempted to replace it with a Searforge army - I was looking at my mates army the other day and realising how easy the models would be to add to and how simple painting them could/would be.



Anywho, the real reason for this post - WIP updates! yay.

First up, recently I've been working on my Cygnar starter.
I went with the Fort Falk scheme, to go with the Khador starters 5th Border Legion colours (both schemes were in Escalation).

There's a bit left to do, but it's coming together.
But the Charger is pretty much done, just needing details (rivets, furnace glow, battle damage, etc)

Both just need some extra base detailing - Khador will have some snow and barbed wire, cygnar some static grass.
