(Another) Rahn List

Starting a small RoS army 15pts and growing
was looking at going with
Adeptis Rahn Shyeel
Hydra
Phoenix

this leave 2pts over - any chance of peopel opion as to what to use in background effectiveness
looking at using a solo though which one ?

My current taste is the Magister but I would like some other views

If you only take Magisters and Arcanists, then this is a tier list.
- Rahn tier list level 2: if you have two heavy warjacks, then you get a free Arcanist over FA.

In which case you could take:

Rahn
- Hydra
- Phoenix
Arcanist (free)
Magister

or

Rahn
- Hydra
- Phoenix
Arcanist (free)
2 Arcanists

Personally I think you might find the Manticore better than the Hydra, in which case you can take the first list (with Magister) with an additional Arcanist.
- Magnetize the Hydra for a Manticore/Hydra and you can play both.


EDIT: If you don't want to go tier, then the MHA is probably the best choice. (Destor Thane doesn't fit)

went with the Hydra as it 9pts as to Manticore 10
if wen Manitcore then the additional 1pt would be easy - Arcanist :)

Actually the Manticore is 8 pts no? Phoenix is the only 10 pt heavy jack, Hydra 9 pts, and Manticore is 8. Am I getting that wrong?

At 35pts, I run this list with Rahn:

Rahn
Mittens x2 - 10
Mittens Solo x2 - 4
Dawngaurd Sentinels (A MUST MUST have Ret unit) + UA - 11
Phoenix (very durable arc node) - 10
Chimera (shifty arc node) - 6

At 25, I drop the Phoenix and run with just the Chimera. At 25pts, the heavy arc node isn't as important.

Also been running this variant:
Rahn
Mittens x2 - 10
Mittens Solo - 2
Sentinels + UA - 11
Phoenix - 10
Manticore - 8

I also definilty agree with Sharian. You will like the Manticore better than the Hydra. I never run Hydra with Rahn. No synergy. Manticore + Arcanist = P+S 25 Combo Strikes. So, on feat turn, after you mittens or your caster knocks down the opposing warcaster and drags it into the Manticore's charge lane, you auto-hit a P+S 25 3d6 combo strike. This is generally a recipie for instant death.

I also like the Sentinels with Rahn as mosh-pit infantry a great deal. Stick Polarity field on them and they are protected from charges and slams, and with Force Field, you get to control deviation direction. AoE's become very ineffective against the list considering all the Force Shields on the mittens and the caster.

Aside from the magister, all the models you listed are pretty weak with Rahn. Little to no synergy. Calvery isn't effective, and you don't need the Scyir to Jack Marshal. Rahn is much more potent with arc nodes, and he needs to control them. If anything, you give the Manticore to Sentinels if you really feel like you need them. Ghost Snipers are always good, but imo points are better spent elsewhere. With all the knockdown potential, I can see where you might make effective use of MHA's, but they are not my favorite with this list. I'd rather let my jacks do it. And Nayl...I Just don't like him. Never been able to use him well.
