I have a tourny coming up in a week and want to try my hand at the ret army I have been building and painting. This is a tier 3 list so add in another Arcanist for free. Other than that the list seems really solid to me but and advice or tactical ideas would be welcome.

Griffon 4
Manticore 8
Phoenix 10

Dunno if I like the Rifleman. I've tired the tier with them and using two mroe units of mittens instead. Unsure which I liked more.

I definitly don't like the Griffon. I understand what you are getting at with it, but at 50pts, I'd say you need a second arc node.

My thoughts would be to drop the Griffon and the Rifleman (14pts). Add a Chimera, 3rd unit of Mittens, another arcanist and another mittens solo.

Maybe even consider another Manticore. That would double your chances of setting up the P+S 25 Combo Strike vs a knockdown warcaster that has been dragged into a charge lane and give you two covering fire templates. Perhaops drop the same 14 pts for a Manticore, mittens unit and an arcanist.

All that being said, the list is solid. No doubts there. I'd be comfortable running it.

For casual Play this list is is great. But in tourney play you're gonna have a hard time fitting in full turns with all those units.

That being said, I often say screw the theme list and grab some MHAs to scare people with as well as provide some non magic damage. I'd revise the list by ditching the houseguard riflemen and picking up a second phoenix as well as ditching the griffon and one magister to then pick up 2 MHA's. if you're bent on maintaing the theme list keep the magisters and the griffon.

but definitely beware of running all those units. you'll likely have to be pretty quick to fit all that rolling in for tourney play. When i play unit heavy lists like this. I roll to hit and to damage at the same time and try to know my stats like crazy. But honestly, I prefer to relax a bit and run more jack/ solo heavy.
