View Full Version : Is a jack-heavy Shae list viable? (25 points)

Hey all

I've never used Shae before (I'll usually use Bart), but I thought I'd give this list a try for an informal league. We're doing 25 points at this point.

[25/25]
Shae
^Buccaneer
^Freebooter

Commodore (of course)
Dougal MacNaile

Dirty Meg
^Mariner

Doc Killingsworth
Hawk

I own the various Talion solos, but my box of Seadogs is... well, at sea, and so infantry aren't available.

Would this be workable as a shoot then countercharge force, do you think?

I'm still pretty new but it looks to me like Doc isn't going to help out your list at all. I would consider swapping both Doc and Hawk for Aiyana & Master Holt since they don't really center around buffing guys you don't have in your list.

I'm partially inclined to agree with Radish...

Doc ain't doing much there, but Hawk is a walking cuisinart on a stick. Although A&H are no combat slouches either. And the bonuses her spells could throw in are a nice bonus.

If you do not have A&H, I'd at least concider Rockbottom instead of Doc...

Yeah Hawk is really awesome but without warrior models for her to use Sucker! with she might get shot down fairly easily without spell support from Shae and with two Jacks you probably want to use his focus elsewhere... Additionally I don't know what a really good use for just 2 points is if you dropped only Doc. Rockbottom isn't a bad idea like MagnustheJust said since he can throw money at the cannon to get it to hit harder though.

Sea Dogs needed. Shae Blitz is all about ensuring the alpha strike. Option to go 'jack heavy may be considered in higher point games. Privateer models have a lot of synergy, so capitalize on this.

Uh, yeah, sea dogs are great at killing multi-wound warrior models, and hitting High DEF models. But, they don't have the punch to crack armor.

I run 3 heavies in my Shae 35pt list, and it's been very useful. I don't consider hitting the field without atleast a Nomad, Mangler and Freebooter for Shae. Coup De Main and a few focus, and you have 12" and 15" threats. That's really nice for an Alpha Strike!
