so im about to buy some new RoS models and what i like the most is the Ravyn and two units of riflemen + UA. should spend the money to get this combination? why or why not. now i just sold a tone of stuff so i have a pretty high amount for starting the new army. so far i have nothing except for Dahlia and Skarath. and ii plan on having different combination within my army. i just see the Ravyn combo being one of our best (with snipe/feat/spells). so what do you think?

I wouldn't run two units of riflemen because I would rather have some diversity. If you want a second ranged unit I would suggest a Mage Hunter Strikeforce with the Commander U/A.

I'm not sure if that would acually work considering thier abbility for the +4" is called snipe aswell. But regardless the Stormfall archers are a very versitile unit and I've fallen in love with them. They can handle infantry to some degree with thier AOEs at 16" on thier own and can handle somewhat tougher targets like light jacks and such if you can manage to knock the target down or get a significant boost to thier attack rolls. The star strike is interesting but not something I find myself using very often (but then again I havn't seen much I could use it against like shield walls).
But honestly 2 units of riflemen might be overkill. I would suggest some other shooting unit like the MHSF or Invictors, and perhaps the invictors might be a good choice being a model that can perform well in ranged and melee (so long as you have a jack nearby for flanking) so the Invictors can provide your riflemen with some level of melee protection while still not slouching on thier ranged duties. Some things to think about.

Abilities of the same name do not stack, so they can either use their own sniper or ravyn's, but not both together.
Don't forget that the halberdiers can be great in a ranged list since they are ranked (allow you to shoot through them).

I don't see why people find houseguard riflemen so attractive. Not that they are bad, but they seem awfully weak compared to other choises. Sure they got 14" range, but that's about it. UA just gives one more shot at close range. They don't have enough punch to kill charging enemy and require something to finnish the enemy off before they get butchered.
With same price as (min) riflemen you get stormfalls who are about the only thing that can shoot those pesky stealthers, not to mention all the other nasty skills.
With one point more you can get same number (min) of invictors who are just as good in shoting (well, shorter range tbh) but they got real armor and UA gives a lot better bonus imho.
Even kittens with mitten (tm), eg battlemages seem better with their magicskills and survival skills.
So question remains: Why would one wield riflemen? If you got an idea please let me know.

I would recommend the stormfall's... Couldn't get a unit for myself yet, but saw what they can do while looking at other players... Ya' can't combine Ravyns snipe with their snipe, but with their other abilities - everything else than bad in my opinion!

I'd also gofor the Stormfall Archers. Their versatility makes them great for adapting to new strategies in mid-battle, and with Ravyn you can hot-swap snipe between the Riflemen and the Archers for maximum ranged attack output. I just ordered a unit of these guys to give my magehunters some support in killing the Bane Knights of my gaming buddie. I first ude the archers with their great range to decimate the BK unit, and the use the MH to kill the lift-overs or the ones behind cover.

put rifles with vyros eagle eye they see through most things including enemy mods range 14 is long range in this game CRA all together gives them some punch they can even CRA into melle with their UA or take them with kealyssa give them phantom hunter for same effect you then put snipers and storm behind them protecting the more valuable and fragite solos/specialty units with ranked attacks snipers and arcers shoot through their own shield unit almost gives archers arcing fire which they should already have PP!!!!!

Big V's eagle eye is battle group only.
That said w/ Ravyn, put snipe on them you have 18" in range, that can CRA in to HTH, with in Ravyn's feat turn rolling 3 dice to hit.
This meine freunde, is nothing to to look down your nose.
