Hey guys I'm not the most experienced or skilled terrain maker but I feel if I'm going to spend all this time painting the little guys up I might as well have some decent looking terrain to compliment them. I recently finished up the two trollkin huts that have been in limbo for the last year. I used Delgrieve's tutorial on Terrainthralls as a basis and also consulted images from No Quarter 3 and 19. To be honest I couldn't figure out how to upload them on this thread so I made an album that you can see here: http://privateerpressforums.com/album.php?albumid=299
Please feel free to leave some feedback and I hope to hear what some of you think.

Wow. I remember seeing the tutorial you used and not thinking they would be as big as you have made them. Now I have to say they are really nice this big. Much more impressive than the pringles can scale I was thinking about.

Good job. They look great.

Thanks for all the kind comments guys, I appreciate it! Well since the completion of the huts I've jumped on to another project for my table....The Troll Shrine!! I followed Pat Ohta's tutorial, and while I can't say I enjoyed every aspect of construction but I am quite pleased with the result. Hope you enjoy the pictures

Little bump here I recently finished another piece of terrain thanks to my pal Instride sharing a little spare pewter with me. If anyone is interested feel free to visit my album to check out THE SHREDDER SPIT!!! Or just see it here because I finally got my pictures to work!!!

Honestly pretty pleased with my greenstuff fire:

I feel OSL lighting from the fire would have taking this piece to the next level but I just can't do that yet.

JediNate- I'm impressed! Those turned out great. To make it pop more I would highlight the green glowing effect.

Nice stuff. I especially like the roasting Shredders. he he

I see that you're from State College. Do you ever play at Gatehouse Games in Altoona? I play in tournaments there on occassion. I also have a friend that lives in State College and plays Trollbloods. His name is Joe.

Totally love the roasting shredders! As I play trolls and happen to have two shredders lying in a corner, I might just steal your idea... :D

The shredder pit is amazing! Love it!

I would have never given you those Shredders if I knew this would be their demise! Guess I'll just have to send the other 4 out to eat Horthol again...Seriously though the terrain you make is awesome and really adds to our matches. Keep making terrain so I can catch up to you on painted model count.

A little addition today, nothing too flashy. Just three little stone walls I carved out of foam and added a little flock to appear as though mold is growing. I find little terrain projects like this to be refreshing and help break up the monotony of painting big units...yeh I'm looking at you Kriel Warriors. Also thanks for all the kind comments guys!

Hey guys, haven't really put up anything in awhile but needed a break from painting so I decided to post up some obelisks I made a while ago. Please note the one was toppled over as a thumper cannonball ripper right through it :)

Very easy to make and I find adds a nice little presence to the table. Hope you like them

Small tutorial on the obelisks please. I would like to add something like that to my collection that can be used for both WM and HDS.

It's been quite some time since I put any of my terrain up here due to school but Thanksgiving break and now Christmas I'll do some terrain posting. My regular opponent is my buddy InStride and his Legion. He's been a real good spot about playing in Troll territory constantly so I thought I'd make him some winterish terrain to better suit his Legion. Over Thanksgiving I made several snow covered rock formations which he seemed to enjoy hiding his fragile shooty stuff behind.

All 4 have Borka with them for scale.

Pretty easy and fun terrain. I just hacked away at my scrap foam until I felt it resembled realistic rock formations. Then I applied snow using a baking soda method InStride shared with me in order to give it the wintery look. I'm so glad I didn't go with a wintery theme for my Trolls. Mixing up the snow and applying it was a PITA.

But anyway there's what I did over Thanksgiving break. I'm working on some other terrain at the moment which I should have up shortly so stay tuned.

Quick little update before these guys see play today. Since Gunnbjorn's tier list allows placement of trench templates thought I'd make some. I know they probably should have sandbags but I just couldn't justify using that much of my greenstuff for that purpose. Anyway here's my two trench pieces.

This terrain is great, best of all I love the PP feel to it, seeing it on the battlefield there is no confusion on what game is being played. Stellar work and I salute you.

I second Greywolf's request for a little tutorial for the obelisks. They would make a nice gift to my Circle playing friend. Especially I'm interested how did you manage to carve the runes on?

JediNate
01-06-2011, 06:55 PM
Here's a little Rock wall template made to compliment Gunny. I carved in Dhunian runes to kind of represent how the he or Janissa use their shamanic powers to call up the wall.

Well I'm back at school now and won't really be working on terrain until the summer most likely so I'm assuming this thread will be get quite quiet. But before I go I thought I'd post a picture of all the scratch built terrain I've made up to this point.

http://privateerpressforums.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=4319

In the meantime I suppose I'll just make sketches of ideas I have and play around with how they would look on the table. Currently I'm toying around with the idea of a Trollkin pub, more modular trench pieces, some runed stones inspired by Mulg's back and Avatar's Hallelujah mountains, and some modular wooden fortifications that the trolls use in both Metamorphosis and the force book. If anyone wants to share some ideas I'd love to hear them and again thanks for all the nice comments, I'm glad you guys enjoy my terrain.

A very nice terrain collection there. The Shredder spit is a really good idea, though they probably are not a good idea to eat!
