Let's Talk: Morraig

Unlike my other topics on models, I actually think Morraig is pretty much perfect. The lose of Impact attacks sucks, but the Light Cav move is pretty nifty. Weaponmaster is what makes him great though; MAT10 POW13+5d6 on the charge, oh so sweet. I generally take an Argus if I have him, as Hunter makes him extremely deadly. Only criticism is that our War Wolves suck right now, and giving him Flank back both to and from them would help a lot.

I miss him granting prowl to all wolves but I'm not saying he needs it back.

War wolves and Morraig need flank with Reeves, Morraig, WoO and War Wolves. It would make war wolves worth it too.

Other than that, yeah... he's fine.

I also think that he is perfect, and yes the flank ability on the War wolves needs fixed as they are now I don't see ANY reason I should take them. anything that I would use them for we have something that can do it better.

I like the new Morraig sooo much (and I have bought one now, with MKII) but the problem a see is that 3 Wolf Riders only costs 1 point more.... : S

I thought he had to use his mount's attack on charge?

Nope; in fact if you use the mount attack on the charge you don't get a boosted damage roll.

Have you guys been able to get the War Wolves + Wolves of Orboros or Wolves of Orboros + Morraig synergy going yet? I haven't.

It seems that I've always got the two units in different places at different times. The speed / unit type differences between the units makes it awkward to fit them together. Getting a medium base or large base model in the same melee as a bunch of small base models is difficult.

So while Flank seems good on paper, I'm not getting any use out of it.

Any advice?

Getting WoO there isn't a big problem; you can spread the unit decently well. War wolves are just bad.

Morraig has been terrorizing my opponents. I think he his pretty much done. Yes, I did like the synergy with all our "Wolves of" models before.

However flank as it stands now is great, and it is not so diffficult to pull off.


I have been using him in my Morvhana games. She can plop a Wolve of O down if needed. He is gonna get flank. Between EoL, and her feat, I also have the ability to get Prowl working. I think he is a great model.
