caber thrower threat range

the text as written says:

"when this model attacks with this weapon..." blah blah blah ... "three inch straight line..." blah blah blah

does this mean that the thrower has a 3 inch threat range for oppurtunity attacks? ( i think 3 inch threat range is implyed by the charge rule that says "if this model charges, the line must touch the model it charges.")

or does he threaten just a half inch as normal but with a 3 inch line as the attack of op?

His melee range is .5"

The second one. Half inch melee range with 3" line.

I feedbacked giving him a 3" melee range during his activation. He costs much more than a Kriel warrior, so a small buff isn't a big deal, and its way, way more intuitive than how it works now.
