Hello guys (have to wait for some time till the forum reopen, so it's a little bit late for the post), since last time lots of people told me that I should give them some veteran's marks, I decide to do a "upgrade" for them.
I didnt do battle damage much before, so this is more like a test of several different methods. The idea is to use more red like color for the rust effect, in order to get kind of bloody atmosphere, also adding contrast to the green halo to achieve a new color balance on the whole.
The difficult part was to create effects on both highlight and shadow areas ,which is very hard for only one type of effect, so I choose to use the chips effect on the light side and rust effect on the dark side, it may seem not very logic in reality ,but it is for the color balance on the whole model.
So what do you think? comment and critic are much welcome :-)
here is the "new" version last time

Those are very nice. I like your smooth style and lots of colors. Do you use an airbrush? You have ridiculously smooth color transitions. The battle damage on the gray armor is also very well done.
However, your metals look incredibly bright when contrasted with the dirty beat up grays of the armor. I would tone that down a bit. Also, I think some darklining to provide definition would improve the overall effect, especially around rivets and in areas of deep shadow such as where one armor plate overhangs another.

Wow truly awesome! I sorta agree with althai, the "unrusted" golds do appear a bit bright or perhaps shiny. My first thought was that they look almost like bare paint without any shading or highlighting. Perhaps it's just the camera?
Also the claw marks on the base is pure awesome! that is such an awesome idea, and adds so much character. PERFECT!

Absolutely beautiful work! The damage-effects aren't over the top, the aged metals aren't overbearing... Awesome stuff! I can't wait to see more of your forces!

You just sold me a Denny. Thank you sir. I couldn't figure out how to make her look...not retarded. And you did.
And that battle damage is superb. I'm intensely jealous.

Seriously incredible work - and humorous to see them scratching the base :)
The eye and furnace glow effect is particularly sweet!

That looks really great. Just dont like the gold colors its to bright for me.
Not to sound too redundant, but your transitions are amazingly smooth, but it was your denegra conversion that really caught my eye~! Thanks for the inspiration~!

Well gold can't rust. Personally, I find the minis to be gorgeous. Actually my only complaint would be the claw marks on the base... compared to everything else they look painted on. ;)

wow, thank you all for the input folks! the golden is indeed shiny ,maybe out pace of other areas ,but so far I like the shine and mute contrast :p

Yes, the mark on the base is sloppy ,I really should spend some more minutes on it, could be a lot better than now ,but I was too lazy to retake photos ,maybe next time together with some new models :)

Hey mate, awesome job. Pristine transitions.
Care to share your technique? Wet blending? Air brush? Glazes only? Glazes with additives ( matte varnish)?
Especially the transitions towards the greenish shadows are superb!

Beautiful color tones, weathering, damage and basing on the bonejacks and Slayer.
I'd like to see the rivets on the shoulder plates and so forth highlighted or done with a contrasting metallic to add some detail and break up the metal areas...
teh caster is well converted and painted, but just not my cup of tea. I'd like to see the scheme on the jacks carried over to the casters. Right now as beautiful as the paint job is she looks like she does not belong...

Stunning work!
Along with the painting, the Slayer pose is very fluid with natural movement.
I thing the bases could use a bit more color to contrast a bit more with the gray tones on the 'jacks.

Hi, glad you like my minis, I dont know how far is Oldenburg from Stuttgart, if not very far maybe we could spend some time together in our LGS fantasy stronghold, ?:) (the top players here alone will be worth a trip, I guess) I also did some tutorials before in the old PP forum ,just take a quick search over my ID ;)

I think I've chimed in on this once before, but great job. The battle damage is quite nice without overpowering any of the minis.
I don't think that your Denegra really goes with the group at all, but I can't imagine that you had intended for them to all match anyway.

Your Denegera conversion makes her seduction ability actually make sense, (dunno if it's in mkII) had always hated the model before I saw what you did with it. Love it, wish I could do something of that level.
Your paint job on the jacks is insane! When I look at the glow I think I'm looking inside them, you brought these figs to unlife.

Deney is a ghost, who is floating around the army ,like she belongs to another world .In model it's the manga style and the realistic style make the appearence interesting .However I can see many people disagree with me ,it's only my taste at last.:p

First: Your painting skills are phenomenal. These models are gorgeous.
Second: Can you tell us what paints you used for the armor plates?

Guys, y'all do know your are making a zombie thread, right? Back from the dead. Look at the dates, this thread is three and a half YEARS old. Just a heads up in case you were hoping for a response.
Very nice choice of colours and subtle battle damage. Looks fantastic.

Is it me or does the slayer look like an umber hulk from D&D with this paint job?

Looks really good. The battle damage is awesome and the necrotite glow is really good as well.
I would have loved a close-up of your deneghra, she looks interesting.
