A long time ago my pKaya came with no arm. Not that I was too bothered as I hopped straight onto the Baldur train. But with MKII coming up I decided that I'd better quickly slap some paint on her, making her missing arm more of a problem. So I went for the 'casting Spirit Door' look :).

Not the highest quality paint job (and I've not cleaned up the base yet, either), but I thought I'd share in case it gives someone else an idea.

Definitely a good way of dealing with the lack of arm issue, but it might be easier next time to just email PP customer support...

As they say, when life gives you lemons, make lemonade... or in this case a Spirit Door... which would actually be quite difficult to do with lemons...

Wow cool idea I do not usually hand out props like this. The last things so many of my opponents saw was kaya looking just like that awesome! hope she stays mostly intact in MKII.

any chance you could throw up a couple more angles on that? I think you got an interesting effect with the spirit door, just want to see it better.

Thank for the comments all - very much appreciated :).

I've attached a shot from another angle (although can I just add that she really does look better at her 'real' size, these big images are killers for showing up more problems than you realised were there ).

(oh, and yes, here's hoping that she stays herself in MKII :D (and assuming she does, the outside of the spirit door will get redone (I wanted something swirly and animalistic but settled on the lazy option due to time constraints)).

EDIT: If anyone wants a particular angle, just let me know what you're after and I'll see if I can grab it.

Good job pulling that off, there really isn't anything else that would be so once again: good work!

Also the OSL isn't too shabby either :p

Wow! I'm impressed, that conversion looks really cool, and the paint job ties it together nicely. Out of curiosity (my Kaya actually has her arm) what did you make the spirit door out of?

That is a fantastic idea!

good call on the conversion. It's a very innovative idea. Necessity truly is the mother of invention =D

Thanks again all for the comments - far more, and far nicer than I expected :p.

@Elias - after having issues getting plasticard as thin as I wanted it, I ended up using the plastic of a square yoghurt pot (necessity and invention, indeed :)).

As a slight point of note, I'm going to blend the OSL a little better and re-do the outside of the spirit door now that I've seen them both in the glaring fact of a photo - I'll update once done :).

As mentioned I decided to change the 'outside' of the spirit door (decided on Kaya's palm print in the end (if I'm lucky that was obvious already ;))) and just touch up the OSL to remove the harsh line where it ended is some places.

Anyway, she's ready to take her place in the FT :D

That's an amazing idea, and since my Kaya is missing her arm too I might need to "borrow" this for myself!

That is really creative and truly an 'outside of the box' solution !

You sir are quite the optimist and problem solver :)

I like her palm print in there... nicely done.

I love it. Although my mental image is her grabbing a beer out of her fridge...

Cheers all; definitely feeling encouraged now to play around with a few other models that could use a refurb :D.

@Mutton - I might just hang a couple of cans off the Gorax's rope, now you mention it... ;)

Great idea!

If you're going to redo the spell effect, try using a piece of clear plastic ( from a blister or other packaging). I'd experiment with some paint and ink effects first, or try some of the Tamiya clear colours.

I think I threw out eKaya's extra hand by accident.
