Hey Folks

I just picked up a Devastator today, and am having trouble figuring out the bits. There's a set of tubes with "male" and "female" ends. Do these go between the arms and the torso? I can't see where else they fit but they look awful slim to be holding those huge arms on. Anyone?

They are optional.
They do go between the arm and torso, but with them in place the model will be 'open', without it will be 'closed'.

Good luck BTW, My husband's assembled and painted 2 now, to the accompaniment of much colourful swearing.

those two tubes are actually the upper arms, meant to be used when you assemble the devastator in open position. When you assemble it in closed position, leave them away, otherwise the upper shoulderpads won't close on the shoulders.
If you don't like them you have 3 other possibilities:
- assemble the devy in closed position
- replace them with something else (brass rod and plastic tubing e.g.)
- leave them away (it doesn't look as bad as you might think => LINK (http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2573/4143917971_29e632c816_b.jpg))

Ok. Thanks guys. I'll have to play around with it a bit and decide how I should do it. I was thinking something sort of in between because the closed option is a bit boxy but I also want it to look a bit armoured.

Both of Jonathan's are shown here (http://privateerpressforums.com/showthread.php?t=54), he did them both to be about half and half by using brass rods.
I'm sure he'll have some tips if you ask.
