According to the Field Test, It appears that you can use Rhulics in a Highborn Covenant merc contract army. I love the idea for game play, but I'm not sure it works. Can anyone provide me with a bit of insight on whether this works?

It works fine. Matter-of-fact, Horgenhold Forge Guard LOVE Ashlynn!

Probably cuz they stand at chest-height.

Dwarves actually seem to like everybody but other dwarves.

Forgeguard w/ Ashlynn, Highshields with Magnus, gorten with nyss and kayazy, Durgen with Mules....

Maybe it's because Dwarves like beards, and the only dwarf with anything close to a beard is the soul patch on Thor...

Edit: Brun...but he's basically a Khador Midget, so...

Durgen runs much better in Highborn (or Four Star) than Searforge IMO. Access to models like Reinholdt, Dougal, and Mules is really nice for him.

I highly disagree. The only Rhulic models that work better with non-rhulic stuff are Durgen and Rockbottom. The rest of the units, casters, and jacks work extremely well with one another. A Searforge Gorten Grundback army is a very potent army.

I think a searforge army is fun to play with, but almost any army can be more competitive with the inclusion of some of our better solo's. the wolf and the elf pop to mind.

Maybe it's because Dwarves like beards, and the only dwarf with anything close to a beard is the soul patch on Thor...Obviously forgetting Durgen Madhammer's magnifisant neckbeard.

Edit: Brun...but he's basically ANDREW COSSACK-JACKSON, so...Fixed.

These very important details aside, yes, Dwarves will work with Highborn, and Four-Star for that matter. Either version of Magnus have this'n that to gain from a unit of High-Shields. Ashlynn can make Forgeguard a very zippy, not so impossible-to-miss unit, with help from Carvolo.

Thanks to all for the info. I've been looking to add some more options to my Highborn forces and now I know. And knowing is... (heck, I can't do it). I think I see some fun tactics involving Thor marshalled Bashers with Ashlynn or the Devil Dogs. And of course, Durgen needs Mules.

And knowing is half the battle!

The other half is violence!

The only reason i run most of my Rhulic under *4 Star is because lately I am addicted to Boomhowler. Otherwise the Rhulic models do work fantastic with Highborn.

does anyone run Durgen with the Nyss hunters? it just seems with Eplosivo and his feat this unit would be awesome.

Eh, it's not really worth it to use Exlosivo'ed Nyss arrows. Unless you are just looking for the extra attack dice for some reason, the Pow 5's that their bow AOE's generate is somewhat underwhelming, unless you are just looking to kill arm 13 guys or something.

I actually find Boomhowler's blunderbusses to be a better option (gasp!! I know!! lol) - one of the few times that actually SHOOTING with Boomhowler works lol.
