Hahaha, not big news to anyone else, but it's my second Hordes FT game. ;)
I had the Trollbloods battle box team: Madrak, Impalers x2, Axer. He had the 10-point Cygnar All-Stars: pStryker, Stormclad, Lancer.
So, not super optimal, but even points, no infantry.
The Axer was the star. Madrak did nothing but cast Rush and upkeep Sure Foot, until the end when he cleared off the last 4 points from Stryker in melee. I really won because Stryker risked a Free Strike from the Axer so he could engage Madrak, and the Axer decided that Stryker should be given a complimentary lesson in getting his *** kicked.
Madrak survived a charge from the Stormclad, though, followed by a slew of attacks from Stryker. I transferred 12 damage to one of the Impalers.
I rolled two Threshold checks, one with the Axer at 2 Fury (I wanted him to Frenzy there, and he didn't), and another with an Impaler at 1 (everyone was in melee; there was no reason for him not to Frenzy). Both checks passed. I found myself over on Frenzy in every round in which I was engaged in melee. Given that my Impalers didn't really have targets for that long, all the Fury was really on the Axer.
The Impalers didn't do squat. They hit every time, but never a crit, and never any damage at all. Against the ARM values Stryker was bringing, there was nothing to hope for aside from the Crit Slams, and they weren't coming.
All I could do was upkeep Sure Foot, get into melee with Rush, and hope everyone survived Stryker's Feat turn so I could actually do some damage. I was lucky Stryker took the Free Strike, but the Axer could probably have killed him by himself, while doing eventual damage to the Lancer with Thresher. Right now, I have a hard time imagining a list without the Axer in it (Rush and Reach meant some LONG charges), whereas in Mk.I I rarely took him.
