View Full Version : To marshal or not to marshal: Freebooter

I am currently having a blast with a 35 point Talion Charter list with Bart, Mariner, Buccaneer and Freebooter plus Sea Dogs and all the usual suspects.
Here is my question: Do I marshal the Freebooter with Meg as I have been doing, or make it part of Bart's Battlegroup?

Meg and Drive and give one boost or extra attack
Bart can allocate focus and buff the Freebooter with Batten Down the Hatches.

I am thinking that the added durability of BDtH outweights Meg's DRIVE. Meg can still *Repair and cause Stall on the Freebooter's target.

Opinions?

You could marshal the Buccaneer. With her it can charge free, through rough terrain and then boost the net. Granted it won't get the the arm buff from Bart, but you'll free up more focus for the Mariner and Freebooter for some clobbering.
Just an idea.
BTW, love those Sea Dogs in MKII!

Murch,

I thought of giving the Buccaneer to Meg after my initial post. Now that you have suggested it, I will give it a try tomorrow. Thanks.

I am anjoying the Sea Dogs too! Mostly because my opponents can't stand having to kill them over and over. Then he has to kill Bart at least twice. I seem to be lucky with the tough rolls.

I don't like to marshal jacks with bart since baton down the hatches makes them nice and survivable. However, marshaling is great with Miss Fiona or Mr. Madhammer. Full Devil Dogs with two Mariners, pronto for movement with aiming bonus+built in loaders+a focus for each jack that fiona can keep to influence things.

if you run the freebooter & bucaneer under meg you have 11 pts that can do decent damage v.s. a jack.

Bonus if you do it under shae since charges are free so you really have all the boosts you could hope for.

As for bart, I really prefer him w/ nomads, Mules and Mangelers as they have reach and arm 19 base. ARM 17 base is just a bit rough.

It really depends if you want to broadside or batten down the hatches. So decide when you see the opposing army. Lots of troops means that broadside is more important.
