I am a new player and I just bought the Cygnar Battle Group box.

In my area, the gaming group would start playing from 15 pts. The Battle Group box gave me already 11 pts. I am not willing to drop any of the warjacks before play testing. Therefore, I am looking forward to manage my last remaining 4 pts. I need to hear your opinion/advice what would suit the last 4 pts between

Black 13th Gun Mage Strike Team (4 pts)
Eiryss, Mage Hunter of Ios + Stormsmith Stormcaller (4pts)
Gun Mage Captain Adept + 2 Stormsmith Stormcaller (4pts)

or any other options as you might see fit.

Black 13th Gun Mages without question. You'll find no matter what the points the toolbox of abilities they bring to the table will draw you to them over and over.

Black 13th, for sure.

B13. Although, in a 15 point game you're going to see mostly 'jacks, so they'll really only be around to assassinate the enemy caster. Nonetheless, they're a must-have Cygnar unit, so you might as well pick them up now rather than later.

Like they said, in 15pt battles it's mostly warjacks. Since the battle box comes with pstryker I would get 3 stormsmiths, and reighnholt. That way you can fire stryker's disruption pistol twice a turn, and the smiths would make sure that no other enemy jack could get focus.

Better yet, us his lucky charm to boost the EQ's, then disrupt them when they are knocked down, then they can't shake off the effect

Another way to go is Arlan Strangewayes and two Stom Smiths or a min unit of Field Mechaniks.

choices choices. I would say either the Black 13th or the Smiths will serve you well in the long run. The best scenario at this point level probably is Eiryiss and a smith. Since both can disrupt the jacks. Also with such few models on the table Eiryss can easily get her disrupte bolt off on an enemy caster and really hose them.

That having been said, I do think the B13'th are the ones that are most expandable, as in they will get put in more lists overall then the others. Well, except for the occational stormsmith for point filler.

It should also be noted that the new Firefly jack will help the smitsh out a bit. No real info yet but it's gonna atleast allow them to pull of triangulation and what not easier.

EDIT: Scratch that, get a squire. best two points you will ever spend. FIll the rest with smiths or arlan as you wish, but definitly 100% get the squire.

I agree with Dark, definently get the Squire. 14" control area and the ability to reroll has saved my butt more than once, specially with Stryker on those critical times you NEED that EQ to go off. After that I would say two Stormsmiths, that gives you 3 models to disrupt your opponents Jacks with and at that low point cost, thats crucial.

I'd say Strangewayes (2pts) and a Squire (2pts). That's what you need. Every caster should be running a Squire, period.

Also the B13 models are hideous. It's why I still haven't picked them up.

Although they are pretty damn good when it comes to abilities

Screw you!

I like the B13 models. They just need to be about 20% bulkier so they're actually to scale.

If you're doing a low point battle I have to agree the Black XIII would give you a huge bump in lethality and versatility.

Don't worry about pStryker and missing with his equake, get in the right range and you'll always score with it on the scatter.

The problem with the battle box is you have a caster that is 6 focus with three very focus hungry jacks. A squire 2 storm smiths and reinholdt would give you an extra focus and the ability to disrupt all of your enemy's warjacks. I'm sure you can see how this can be brutally effective.

With the Current MkII rules, the charger (at least in my experience) will be devouring 3 focus a turn to shoot two double-boosted shots a turn. That being said, passing some spell duty to a Journeyman Warcaster isn't a bad idea but leaves you with only one point left. The only option you have to fill that void would be the Stormcaller or Reinholdt. As an alternate (albeit lesser) choice to the 13th you could take a GMCA and still have room for a squire.

I would have a hard time choosing between the 13th and Arlan and a Squire. The Black really ruin somebody's day. I love it when a battle report ends with " and then the black 13th or Caine got LOS" On the other hand Arlan can keep your Jacks healthy, dish out focus and if needed dish out damage and the squire does all sorts of fun stuff.

I'd favor Squire/Arlan but another option would be jr. and stormsmith or reinholdt. Jr. could take some of the focus load off of stryker. 9 focus to play with in a 15pt game could rock the table.

Depending on whether you can proxy or not, perhaps pick up ATGM's and use three of those as B13 in smaller games? You're likely going to want them at some point :).

Arlan and the Squire are very solid choices, too. And the Stormsmiths are great for filling gaps.
