Hi.

A friend of mine decided to lure his brother into Warmachine by giving him a Khador Battlegroup as a Christmas present. The trick is, that he forced me to paint the Battlegroup in two weeks...

Well, to my and his surprise, I got the job done in time. I have painted a lot of stuff for him before and this is probably the first time I sticked to the deadline. I apologize for the quality of pictures. I normally take pictures in daylight, but I haven't seen any in couple of days. Poor lamp + semi-gloss varnish isn't quite the optimal setup for taking pictures, but will have to do for now.

Really nice basing. Your painting however needs some work. The red is too raw (as in no work done to it)

Like the wear you've giving the armor with some bare metal poking through.

They look very nice, and the basing is indeed quite excellent.

I am not sure where that skull decal comes from, but it seems to end up on Juggernauts quite a lot!

Thanks for the comments so far. Once again, I cannot take the full credit of basing. I used MicroArt 40mm Old Factory bases (http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/factory-bases-round-40mm-p-109.html) converted to fit regular 50mm bases. The skull decal is from GW Imperial Guard transfer sheet.

Since I hadn't painted any Khador before and didn't have any original ideas, I decided to stick with the "official" colour scheme with few minor changes. The red is ArmyPainter Pure Red spray followed by couple of light coats of Khador Red Base. It is then given a highlight of Citadel Macharius Orange (similar to Khador Red Highlight, I guess?) before adding a light coat of Citadel Baal Red Wash. I wanted the red to glow a bit, so I gave it a coat of satin varnish (ie. between matt and gloss). I believe that matt varnish would have looked better in the pics, though.

I originally thought of giving these a light coat of ArmyPainter Strong tone "dip" as I do with most of my models. It would have added some depth where it is needed, but I was too happy with the shade of red (in real life - can't say the same for pics) and didn't want to interfere with anymore.

I have a feeling that I might end up painting more red Warjacks in the future. I didn't volunteer for any infantry, though, as I don't really like Privateer Press infantry models.

Like what you did here, I'll skip the bases because I think people worry way to much about bases and not the figure. Your red is a bit shiny, but you wanted it to be that way. Getting a good shot of your models is never easy. I have a lightbox and still struggle in this area. From what I see here I would let you paint models for me.
