View Full Version : WM/Hordes movement trays
Not sure where to post this. I've seen them at a few events. These wooden trays that people use to carry their PPress minis around with. Nothing is more annoying then being at a event, and having to pull your stuff in & out of Sabol transport I use. I remember someone at Templecon last year saying they where actually made by someone on the forums. I didn't know if there was a "how to" guide floating around on how to make them. Or if anyone knows of something similar out there that they can recommend.

I've seen those. Locally some players like them, but say they're a little tight.
Alternatively some players bring trays with them to carry from table to table, to prevent having to go through the pack/unpack cycle.
Finally, some people take this farther and make display boards they can use to carry armies. This works really well with a cheap picture fram or cork message board. add another thin layer of cork (both board and extra cork can be found at places like Michael's) that's had apropriate sized holes cut into it for all your bases. Decorate the board to match your basing and you're done!

Cutting it out of cork board. Didn't think about that. I was originally thinking of doing it out of a sheet of 1/8" hobby wood. The main thing stopping that was my lack of a proper tool to cut the holes with. With cork I could just cut it with my hobby knife. I've seen people use the normal tray before. Used one myself. My main gripe with them was the fact your minis just sit on it and nothing secures them in place. So they tend to slide around if you're not careful.
Thanks soulreclaimer! This tray was what I was looking for.

What sucks is that he has PM turned off and I really want one!

Dang, just discovered that myself. >.<
If anyone knows fool, tell him to turn his PMs on and there's at least 2 people interested in getting a tray from him.

four!
I've been thinking about getting some of these for the past few weeks.
That is pretty ironic. When I finally find this forumite, his PMs are off.
FYI to everyone out there. It appears that your default settings for receiving PMs is turned off. So you have to do the following to turn it on.

Edit Options
Down in the Message & Notifications, you need to make sure there's a check mark on "Receive Private Messages". You then have the options of getting an email sent to your personal email account when you get a new PM.
I didn't realize until I tried to send fool a message, that I had mine turned off.
What a weird predicament.

My LGS actually had a pile of carrying trays from fast food joints that they use. They are actually pretty good for taking your army from one table to the next.

One person nudging your arm as you walk will put you off a carrying board forever :P

I have some magnets on the bases of the miniatures that I take places with me, when i get around to making a display board I'm going to put a piece of metal in it so my miniatures can't be knocked off. ;)

I make these also . PM me and I can hook you up.
Does anyone here use a baking tray and magnetized bases? I was thinking that might work out really well.

I have magnetized bases on most models and at tournaments carry the army I use around on a cookie sheet with raised edges.
It works out rather well, and for actual transport to and from location I use a foam tray transport case.
I have a plan to eventually have a set of metal trays that can slide in and out of a tough metal box, thus no longer needing even the foam.
Hey all, thank you for telling me about the PM's. They are turned on now.
If trays are tight just sand a little off the base of your models, but most people like them being tight, because their models will not fall off or tip over when someone bumps their arm.
Again thank you for letting me know about the PM's
