Hey everyone.

Back in the old forums, dboeren had his Warmachine and Hordes faction guides pinned at the top of the New Member's forum. Obviously, we can still use those here, so here's the links to them.

Obviously, with the MkII changeover and such underway, things may have varried slightly. Hopefully in a couple months when we've got the final-final versions of the factions and have had a chance to fully and adquately digest the goings-on, we'll have a New-and-improved Faction Guides for both games.

Until then, these are still a great resource for new players.

We've got the new Warmachine Faction Guide ready and it's up. Look for it pinned in the New Member's Forum.
Once we get those MkII Hordes books out, we'll be updating this thread as well to incorporate them in. Until then, this will still have to do.

It's nice with a guide to the factions. One such as I don't get play against them all, so instead of having to analyze them to find out how they play out these documents are a help when looking over a faction for any reason. I'd really like a sum up of Retribution in there somewhere.

With that being said the over-all description doesn't mention where each factions focus lies, instead giving the impression it's all four areas. Judging by the description I'd think Khador was a faction excelling in melee, and Cryx having squishy infantry that is getting to re-enter the game and just go for assassinating warcasters and warlocks. It could use an update (easy to say).

Yeah. Once MkII gets fully settled in and everyone's got time to digest it and such, we'll hopefully get a new set of Faction Guides for all the factions in the game.

Until then, though, these are still good for general purposes. Things didn't change so drastically in MkII to invalidate any of them.

Hello there! I'm totally new to Warmachine and I'm totally stoked!!! I just cant decide which army to play first? I guess my first question is can mercenaries mix with other army's? I know this isn't a questions thread but I just came looking in hope that I would find a Mercenaries guid but I didn't...

Each mercenary unit/model works for certain number of factions factions, usually Warmachine ones (for example Steelhead Halberdiers can work for Cygnar, Khador, Protectorate and Cryx, while Horgenhold Forge Guard will work only for Cygnar an Protectorate) but there few mercenaries who can also work for some Hordes factions. Mercenaries can also be fielded as separate force as detailed in contracts.

Cygnar has most mercenaries available to them, followed by Khador and protectorate which also have rather wide choice of them. Cryx have a bit less options in mercenaries while Retribution have only 2 mercenaries and 2 Minions which they can hire.
