not sure if this is in the right place, but anyways. what would the best figure case be for a warmachine army? I'm planning to have lots of jacks so i would need something that could fit them in. I don't really mind the price, unless it's something like $250

Privateer Press and Battlefoam teamed up to create a case that is supposed to come out in January, but there hasn't been any news about it since it was annouced...

Sabol's cases are quite popular due to the ability to create exactly the space you need.

Several folks use small magnets and a metal tool case, too.. plenty of options.

Battlefoam has a very good product, just very pricey for my tastes.
I am a huge proponent of building your own. Cost wise it works out to be considerable less.
I am estimating here, but for less than a $100 you should be able to build a custom case with foam trays. Most home improvement centers have a good selection of hard cases and if you do a search on these forums you should be able to make your own foam trays.

I made my own. Check out the tutorial Here: http://warmahordes.wordpress.com/2009/08/11/diy-foam-miniature-trays/

Much cheaper too if you don't mind the work.

The Battlefoam ones will be up on Mon to preorder. They are suppose to ship and arrive at the same time as Prime MKII. Their trays are nice and you could always buy a different container for the trays to fit into.

I actually use a pistol case to carry my army. At a whopping cost of 15 bucks its a steal. It holds my army, stat cards, cards, tap measure, and focus jewals.

Ooh, there are actual benefits of no gun control..?

Aye there are, many states in the usa with looser gun laws have lower crime rates, people are warry to try to rob a house when they know a angry man with a shotty lies in wait.

Forget all this talk of foam. Get a manly case [toolbox] and some manly magnets [from hard drives] and glue some less manly washers [tiny] on the underside of the base. They won't go anywhere.

Aye i do agree with possiblyarowbot, but i prefer rare earth magnets in the base. Same effect though. Dunno how that works with some of the bigger metal things though.

sir losealot, Ive bought a few plano 4 pistol cases and their nice, what method do you use for packing them (modifying or replacing the foam)

Stray Bullet - I take out the bottom layer of foam and put my templates and cards or any other paper items I want to keep flat under the foam. I put the foam in place and I cut out a small spot in the foam to hold my tape measure. Other then that I just kinda throw the models in and go. Oh and i've never had any problems with people thinking there is a gun in the case. It actually looks more like a small plastic breif case. I look more like i'm carring a small tactical nuke lol.

here's what I and a lot of the guys in my area use

Its a cheap, lightweight $20 hard plastic case available at any office depot/office max, in the file storage part of the store. The pictures don't show the lid, but it's strong enough that you can sit on it unless you're huge. Its got a retractable pully handle thing, but I never use that and just carry it by the hand holds.

Its not the best if you want to lug it around 1 handed, unless you roll it around like a suitcase, and I wouldn't use it for traveling around via airplane, but it can hold a lot of models.

I'm with Tool Boxes and rare earth magnets. A couple magnets for medium based guys and four usually for 'jacks. Small 20$ box and magnets are cheap, carries a 50pt plus army. Your models dont move much and it takes less time to pack 'em up at the end of the day.

Cheapest is the Sabol foam trays ($7 a tray, customizable to size) and a cardboard box. But I'm a cheap college student with no money, so if you want to go one better than the cardboard box it's sholthaus' suggestion above all the way.
