Looks like with the new update we get a window into minion 'locks. Rorsh and Wrong Eye gained the labels of "farrow warlock" and "gatorman warlock" respectively with mention of only being able to use beasts of their given type.

Have at it.

It also looks like you can field them as solo's and add beasts to their battle group. I really wish we had info on these as it would impact how well they do. As it stands with just the one beast Wrongeye/Rorsh are very weak. With a second however they might just live up to their strengths.

How will this even work? I thought the lesser warlocks were bonded to their respective beasts (evident by their models being paid for together)... in that case, what point cost would you pay for say Rorsh with a different farrow warbeast? Are the lesser warlocks going to be able to take more than just the warbeast they come with?

It doesn't make sense yet!!!

I wish they would split up the cost so you could switch out the beast and then make it where the character beasts can only be used by their lesser.

Thats the thing. You buy Rorsh and you get Brine Automatically (Just like Laris/EKaya). You can then add more warbeasts to his battle group.

i would like for them to drop the whole minor walock thing all together and make them like the Warmachine Merc casters. I think an all Gator man army would just rock. i love the Byou theme.

Looks like you kind of got your wish. Rorsh doesn't have the Minor Warlock anymore, but Wrongeye still does.

It seems to me that the lesser warlocks will remain lessers (I think Rorsh losing it is a typo) and that they will be akin to 'jack marshalls or journeymen in that they will be solos that can do warlocky things for beasts, but, like merc marshalls, will only be able to be the warlock for beasts of their particular type.
I think true Minion warlocks are still to come in the (not necessarily near) future.

From the current schedule we should see the minion book in January of 2011.

Meh, not a fan of the idea. Currently you can use the minion warlocks pretty much whenever you like, and they go well into faction armies as they are (if they are worth the points is a different discussion). Change them into proper warlocks you have to either play a multi-warlock game or play a minion army.
I got no desire to do either so effectively making them useless to me.

I can't see why I would ever take another Warbeast with Rorsch or Wrong Eye. Rorsch doesn't even have enough fury to be sure he can keep Brine under control if he wants to force him all out. Plus the points for a second Minion beast actually start cutting into my main lock's fury reserves rather than relieving Fury burden which is supposed to be the point.

But I guess its the whole "Farrow/Gatorman Warlock" thing that really gets me wondering. Will the Minion Warlocks all be super restrictive with their beast choices? Will they all have types like Rorsch and Wrong Eye and only be able to pick those beasts? Since Minion Pacts were announced I've been wondering what non-faction beasts will be like, and what fictional background would be created to justify them working for different Minion Warlocks with presumably different backgrounds and origins. I always just assumed there would be wierd "generic" beasts that would work for different Warlocks, with backgrounds as diverse as the Mercenary ones. Now it looks like that may not be the case. This news kind of makes it look like Minion Pacts will just be a Farrow Pact and a Gatorman Pact. Of course new races could always just appear. So I guess Minion pacts will give us at least two "new" races who can maybe share infantry but not beasts. I guess maybe there isn't enough material for Forces of Hordes: Farrow andForces of Hordes: Gatormen. I guess I'll just have to wait and see how it all shapes up, but since I own all the Minions I couldn't help but ponder about what my next army could shape into. Isn't it fun to speculate with almost no information at hand.
