I never played Cryx in Mk1, and picked them up after the final MK2 rules dropped online.
I picked up a heap of stuff and have yet to play all of it but I thought it might be a good read to see what someone coming in fresh to Mk2, but not new to the game thought.
I have found cryx very fun. As a whole they seem to have a bit of speed, and a few heavy hitters but generally can't take a punch. Having SPD7 arc nodes and having offensive spells worth casting is somewhat new to me.
They don't seem to be lacking in buffs/debuffs either and a lot of their units stand on their own two feet (or shadow skirts ;))
pDenny is still nasty as. The feat affecting focus is very good and still cripples and army. Crippling grasp is solid, and comboes well with the Withering to really shut down everything.
I have only used her at 15pts with the Deathjack, a nightwretch and a deathripper. It was a tournament and after Deathjack was able to kill two fresh Juggernaughts in one round I was able to take the win.
pSkarre is good too. Satyxis seem very good with her because they benefit alot from her feat as they can really do some solid damage with Power Swell and the chances of crit. KD go way up with dark guidance - not to mention they are fearless with her and can double dip on feedback/backlash.
Heavy hitters become even nastier - like effective POW18 Bane Thralls.
I don't have a necrosurgeon to heal her so keeping her alive seems a bit of a challenge post feat if you want to get good use out of dark guidance and sac. strike as she seems pretty fragile.
eSkarre is incredible. The threat range on her 'jacks is awesome. A pair of stalkers really make 'casters sweat.
Deathjack - nuff said. She doesn't really have a buffing spell though except black spot so I've taken to including a unit of bane thralls for dark shroud and a skarlock to give her another chance at perdition.
I want to try out a Reaper and Harrower with her because Reach is really fantastic for assassination runs.
I've also played pGaspy, and brought a skarlock to throw another BoC or to hand out Scything Touch. Having another model to throw out a spell is really solid.
I want to try Bane Knights with him as he can buff up their hitting power.
I've been playing a lot of Bane Thralls. Even just a minimum unit to run and get an automatic -2ARM, no need to hit, it just happens. Stealth is pretty good these days and they hit like a ton of bricks.
Tartarus seems ridiculous. For 4pts, he seems like a fantastic deal. I'd rahter have him and a min. unit of Thralls than a max unit of Thralls. I'm of the opinion for Bane Knights it's all or none to get the most use out of Vengeance so he and the Bane Knights can become a pricey module.
Death toll, Curse, Stealth, Ghostly.
I have trouble not including him and bringing a unit of banes to keep him company.
Satyxis are very, very fast and immunity to blasts while the witch is alive is awesome. I think that the Sea Witch is autoinclude, because she brings a lot to the unit.
A great flanking unit - I have found leaving them alone to do their own thing works best. Had best results with pSkarre.
Soul Hunters have been a solid choice. I like a small foot print so I have only been running 3 and hence haven't been using Darragh. The ability to move 21" in a single turn is sweet. I was able to feasibly get behind my opponent by turn 2.
And with Scything Touch they have proved to threaten light's as well as heavy infantry. Reach really comboes well with Light Cav as you can hit something and back away to a reasonable distance. Three attacks would let them go straight into a unit of sheild wall troops for only 6pts and kill a good number once they reap some souls.
For 'jacks obviously the Deathjack is awesome. But my dark horse has been the Reaper. SPD6 and reach is not to be underestimated, and the Harpoon gives him a very good threat range. As well as sustained attack makes him a killer.
He needs help against enemy heavies but he is cheap enough to have him and another heavy hitter. I've had good times dragging enemy heavies into Bane Thrall charge range, or just dark shroud range so he can go to town with Scything Touch.
Having a tusk attack is cool too.
The one downside to him is that he is only RAT5, so you need to boost to hit, you need to boost damage leaving him typically only one focus to buy an attack with. It's good if you have the target crippling grasped, black spotted etc. The target he most has trouble with is probably like an Iron Clad, where he needs a seven to hit, and a seven to damage so you really need to boost both.
Thats my thoughts so far.
Tips etc appreciated.
