It is indeed called the Toruk, but i'd imagine it's a coincidence.

Awesome film though.

Corny in alot of places and very cliche and one dimensional character types, but what the hell, it was awesome for the amazing action and concept, worth seeing in IMAX 3D for sure! One of those movies that shows you such a cool non-reality you say 'Damn you, I hate life now.'

I guess it was a very big coincidence they named the huge dragon Toruk, but wow, what a cool coincidence! Secret dragonfather props in the year's blockbuster. We have agents everywhere!

I believe it is actually T'ruk...the Final Shadow (as in before you get eaten). However, the wikipedia entry for Avatar does list it as "Toruk," so who am I to disagree...

Probably just as much a coincidence in relation to the Cryx as it is in relation to Dr. Toruk, the physicist. I think Wiki went phonetic as I seem to recall subtitles spelling it as T'ruk, like Zaxon said.

I also was thinking about the old Nintendo 64 game, Turok the Dinosaur Hunter (which was one of my favorite games back then, along side Robotron 64) but the spelling would be enough to push that relation off the dock hehe.
