Afternoon all.

I'm aiming to attend Templecon this year, and have been happily painting away on a Retribution force to bring. Which brings me to this post and my dilemma.

I can't decide what caster to bring. I know I want only one main caster, since I'm still learning the faction and getting into playing, but I can not for the life of me decide where to start. I keep bouncing between fluff, rules and look of each one, and find that I'm too flexible in all to make a decision. Help.

I'd like to bring a themed list (blog topic), not necessarily a tiered one though. I have the time and model count to build a theme around any caster though.

I'd like to hear the communities advice. What is a good caster to bring to a tournament? Preferably somebody who won't rely too much on single tricks or very specific armies.

Thanks in advance!

Rahn would be the most versatile caster we have IMO. And if you want to go themed you could bring the house mages and magisters along with some other stuff to fill.

bring whatever mix of models you think will make it easier for you to lose to me :D j/k.
I for one can not wait for this years Tcon though....

As for the list, Id say, of the 5 casters:

Garryth seems most centered around just doing what he does best, assassinate.

Kaelyssa could be fun, but that may be the Cryx in me thats always loved Backlash...

Rahn was definitely my favorite from the start, and will probably be the only caster of the 5 who's Tiered list I intend to own enough models to actually field. However, if you dont bring any battle mages, his feat is terrible.

Ravyn is probably my 2nd favorite, and works great as long as you bring a fair amount of range (which shouldnt be hard, what with 3 main units, and 4 out of the 6 jacks we currently have access to having ranged attacks)

Vyros is good too, but I hope you intend to field at least 3 jacks (and arcanists to help run them) he's also the highest armor, so probably a bit more survivable, if you intend to spend more time in the lines than in the back.

Bit of a long post, but you get the point. Myself, my Cryx will be there in full force, but I may or may not bring either the angry elves or cyg to at least 1 tourney (of course, neither of those two armies is painted at ALL):D

- Dawnguards, Arcanists and Stormfall archers.
seriously, tough as nails...with AOEs.
