i would think you'd want a fearless unit for screening, due to abomination. maybe shocktroopers in shield wall using eirusk. martial discipline will allow the doom reavers to charge through your shocktrooper line when you get in range.

not too worried about the abomination- eirusk can make the unit fearless- and they have an awesome command anyway.

with doom reavers the biggest thing you have to worry about is getting htem up the board with out being shot to peices. a couple of options that come to mind are listed below.

Vlads windwall spell
kodiaks + gorman DiWulf making a wall of cloud effects
Yuri and 2 man hunters with cloud effects on them from some greylords
sheild wall units for blocking line of sight to them.

and thats about it

With eIrusk I use STs with widowmakers in the rear and have pandora's brick.
With pVlad I windwall them around him and use my flank and bombard models for interference to deliver the payload.
With Butcher I tend to make use of two kodiaks for clouds along with flankers and cover fire.
With eVlad I tend to have them hang back and look for openings to abuse on feat turn. Sometimes follow after my STs, sometimes working a flank if the terrain encourages it.

My favorite is eIrusk. You make the reavers able to run through your front lines, through _their_ front lines, and directly into the enemy caster's face.

Mmmm... I've recently found a new love for the doomies. I havent used them against a really "shooty" list yet, but have had great luck against my opponents thus far.

Advanced deploy allows you to pick what they're up against, and abomination has really helped out in a few games (hooray for ld checks!). They're high speed is also a huge help in gettign them into grips with the enemy. Sorta think of them as a 6 man delivery device for 2 models. Often those two will do more than enough damage to the opponent to justify their cost.

things to avoid: cygnar lightning anything! Shooting stuff with bushwack (or the ability to kill all the doomies before they get into combat).

Good luck!
