Here's a question for the people who know what's going on fiction-wise in Warmachine.

I recall that servants of Menoth are supposed to cover their faces (I don't recall exactly why), and generally the models reflect that, but the Daughters of the Flame do not have covered faces. Why not? I know they are outside of the traditional military, but they are certainly not outside of the Menite faith.

What is the Menite view on the role of women in the military that would allow for different treatment? The book cites that daughters of the flame are selected from flameguard recruits, suggesting that women are allowed to serve in the flame guard.
however, other models are more distinctly Masculine, like the Exemplar bastions, who have a "brotherhood" ability.

Is there any published text that expands on this?
Do any community members have their own thoughts on the subject?

I don't believe that there's a particular commandment to cover their faces. I think that the servants of Menoth have individual uniforms, based on their particular responsibilities. I think that the Scrutators, Cinerators, etc, are striving to project a sense of uniformity and menace. It isn't me who's torturing, burning, etc, it's the church at large.

By contrast, the daughters strike me as being about revenge. They've lost loved ones (though this isn't uniformly true it's surprisingly common, given the devastation at Sul), it's important to them that they be seen to take their vengeance. Not on behalf of the church, which does not acknowledge injury, and thus, need not avenge, but on their own behalf.

The mask commandment is just for the scutators, if memory serves. Orders like the knights exemplar wear masks as part of the uniform to display that they are more of a vehicle of the true law than individuals. Also, Menoth himself wears a mask when he's depicted in art, so the menite faithful will often emulate this.

As far as I'm aware, women are allowed to join whatever militant order they want. Why that isn't displayed in the models, I'm not sure of. Perhaps they just don't sign up very often outside of the daughters.

I would kinda like to see some alternate sculpts of flameguard women, or maybe a female reclaimer or something.

Well, you can't really tell if Zealot #4, TFG #3 or whatever is male or female, given their baggy desert garb/bulky armour and covered faces. For all the models tell, the Cinerators could be an all-female order.
