hello circle community, i will be coming into possesion of the circle warpack pretty soon and was contemplaining on the next beast i should get for mk1 and mk2. After some dileberation i am torn between the two satyrs. I love the gnarlhorn becuase of its counter slam and its abilty to power attack like a mother******. The shadowhorn i like becuz of its insane ability to jump around for assination turns and becuase of the reversal rule, LOVE IT. i can not come to a decision. So, experinced circle players wich would you recommend after the warpack
thank you

I played both of the satyrs in pKaya lists.
Both are good for similar reasons, the choice is personal preference most times.
The Gnarlhorn is great for slams, he gets that nice +2 distance and follow up and his animus that allows for doing one thing really well: He can get deep into enemy lines slamming 11" and then knocking the model D6+2 and following up... If you're up against an enemy caster who isn't a particularly tough nut then Kaya can easily assassinate them from huge distances by spirit dooring to the satyr after it moved 13+D6"
Alternatively it can slam that far and choose not to follow up, making some heavy beast/jack D6+2" away then Kaya can bring him back to safety and give you another turn while the slammed model gets up and has to re cover that ground.
The Shadowhorn has a similar role, it can walk 6" then jump 5" over stuff and still do a two handed throw for a similar effect to the satyr. It can also throw the target (Maybe a caster in this case) towards the waiting pack of the rest of kayas beasts so its close enough to kill without as much reprisal and the shadowhorn can be brought back with spirit door.
The other big advantage is the shadowhorn is cheap. IIRC he's the cheapest heavy in the game and though some of his stats are low, its the abilities, not the stats you want and hes such a bargain buy.

Gnarlhorn. If only because of his vastly superior and far more useful animus.

At the moment, Gnarlhorn because it hits harder than an Iron Fang Pikeman.

The shadowhorn has his uses, but the gnarlhorn has more. And for a starter, he's more durable, requires less forcing to do his power attacks, and has a far more useful animus.
Oh yeah, and I think the model is better. Shadowhorn's pose is a bit awkward, and the model doesn't lend itself to a simple repose.

The Gnarlhorn really is more suited to a beginning force as it's more of a true heavy beast than the Shadowhorn. The Shadowhorn is more of a finesse beast and rather tricky to use effectively as it has relatively low power; POW 13s won't be killing too much.

And one less mat, for no real reason. Actually lost me a game the other day.

I find it best to think of the shadowhorn as a light who is only heavy because he knows kung fu.
