After this update pKrueger's Chain Lightning with Woldwardens is no longer OP. It is stock standard with Rift and Crevasse also hosing infantry. This leaves us in a great position against people who spam infantry. However, without a sneaky assasination we do no stand up against Heavy lists.

However the question must be brought back into light: Is our current edition of Geomancy OP?

No, it's not. I have played a few games with it.

Circle. We kill your troops dead.

Heavy stuff?... Please ignore the Feral Warpwolf behind the curtain.

Yes, but you're not going to find any circle players who will agree.

Wold wardens took a lot of work but they are now balls-on-the-road perfect.

For a long time they were not worth the 9 points, now they are, leave them as is. Sorted as they are.

I have played with Wardens and Krueger a bunch.

Funny thing happened, I stopped taking Wardens, Why? because their inability to effectively take out opposing heavies, a Feral Warpwolf in general was vastly more effective then a Warden, why? Krueger's feat nearly removes the need to chain lightning in general unless your opponent is supremely lopsided on infantry. I swapped out my Wardens and just let Krueger do his thing, and haven't regretted at all and my win percentage went up, funny that.

Woldwarden I used in a game last night had a similar situaiton. He didn't really have anything worth Chain Lightning-ing. So he instead tried punching things a lot and being hard to kill. Needless to say, the damage rolls were clutch andd id some hurt, but most of the time my Bloodweavers with Reach and the Warpwolves did more killing I feel.

And stuff.

I am going to ape the general consensus of this thread so far. Geomancy is great, but has limited application considering the woldwarden's inability to smash through heavy armor.

In my experience, a warpwolf is ALWAYS worth the investment of points due to versatility (especially with Krueger's lightning tendrils). Sometimes taking Megalith is worthwhile for mitigating the lack of hitting power of a Woldwarden (more fury, better PS, and weight of stone). Problem is, Megalith costs 11 points which can be hard to finagle.

I just don't see myself ever bringing more than 1 Warden in a game of 50 points or less. There's too much other beasty goodness in Circle and the various animi make each beast interesting (except the Woldwatcher - he stinks).. I've found that mixed lists are the most playable and interesting.

Even the more "spammable" spells we have on Mohsar and Kromac I think won't see more then a single Wodlwarden. Those two need a lot of fury. THey need to bring more then a couple Woldwardens to make their fury quota. Kind of interesting as I read that stuff.

This is a good thing I find. It means you just have no need to spam them. They are still good. They are still solid. But they bring a toolbox. You get a basic toolset witht hem. You get a hammer, a couple screwdivers and a wrench. To get a power-drill or finely-sized wrench set though, you need something else like a Feral or Pureblood. And that I find is rather neat.

And stuff.
