Calaban with Bone Grinders? Seems strange. What's the source here?

Focus and Fury boards.
I'm not shocked at Bonegrinders. Its a win win for Caliban, Help on the battlefield and Food storage.

I think the best is in Caliban's list a 2 point Bull snapper. That gives you 4 Spiny Growths per turn if Caliban has a Bull Snapper also.
And bull Snappers are so silly good on focus, they might as well been made for this particular setup.

They're only 2 pt if you put them on Wrongeye. And if you give a snapper to Calaban, you can get to a lot more Spiny Growths per turn (+4 on non-feat turn).

I would give each 1 bull and both have it. I have to see what the bone grinders actually do. Hopefully they aren't worthless.

2pt Bull Snappers only if taken in Wrong Eye's battlegroup...

You are going to want them for Craft Talismen for Caliban. +2 to spell range.

Bone Grinders steal dead warbeasts' animi, and can boost the range of a warlock's spells.
Also, they make a nice snack for Calaban if'n he gets hun-gray!!

So i guess take a minimum unit and that is it. range 10 bone shacker is nasty.

Aren't they all pretty friendly when they are dead?

Actually bone grinder are awesome with him. After a wrangler and/or a bull snapped dies, still having access to their animi, out side of having to cast them is strong.

Hah! Awesome! You killed my snapper? Fine! I still get spiny growth....
Calaban's Tier is awesome. Barnabas's tier doesn't make up for Thrullgs. But 1 out of 2 is grrrrrreat for theme forces ;).

My only question is how awesome is the water feature. I imagine it's shallow, but I'd really apperciate being able to place deep water :D
I'm also curioused by the size of it.
Mainly I'm looking to figure out just how many water templates I need to get building.
I'd don't see myself likely playing gators at 100 points, but ya know, the prospect of 10 full squads, or 16 min squads is hard to pass up in my mind...

I like the fact that Calaban gets the Bone Grinders, since they have great tabletop synergy...but, fluffwise, why does Calaban's preferred army include farrow? Doesn't seem to make sense.

Because giving him a Cyclops Shaman made even less sense?

I think bone grinders makes sense. They are magic, he is magic. It's not like there is any fluff that the farrow and gators hate each other, right? Pigs can live in the swamp.

My guess is they didn't want to get slapped for releasing full information - on the other hand, the book isn't too far off now, and I imagine it'll be a bit more specific.

Presumably they'll be identical to those allowed by Blind Water...
As for fluff reasons why Bone Grinders would work for Calaban, its a little early to say, since we haven't seen Calaban's fluff, and we haven't even seen the Bone Grinders Mk2 fluff yet...

I wonder if voodoo could play a role :)

I would guess that voo-doo does play apart in having the Bonegrinders in Calaban's tier list. In voo-doo there are often stories of unwilling slaves working for their voodoo priest masters. You could easily say that they are prisoners of Calaban. Makes me want to repaint my BG's to look like voodoo zombies

Calaban Tier 3 Do you reduce Snapjaw by 2 points? Making Wrong Eye & Snapjaw 7 point cost?

First off, this thread is almost a month old. Do not resurrect old threads (I'm sure a mod will be along presently to say the same thing).
Anyway, to answer your question, Snapjaw does not have a points cost. You purchase both Wrong Eye and Snapjaw for 9 points. Thus, you cannot decrease Snapjaw's point cost.
So, unfortunately, the answer is no.

How old is a thread before it is considered old?

A month isn't that bad. We don't have a hard rule on what constitutes thread necromancy, but mainly it's based on relevance. If there are newer threads or the common discussion of the topic is more up to date than the information in the old thread, then yes, bad form.
That said, if you see thread necro, instead of absconding your fellow forum users, use the Report button (the little caution triangle) on the bottom left of the post to alert the Mods and let us handle it.
