View Full Version : Which to take, Wrong Eye and Snackjaw or A Wastler?
Ok so the title says it all. Lets discuss this in its entirety. Now my thoughts are, everyone will already have at least one Wrastler (IMO) so when you are down to that last nine points, which will you take and why?
I know it all depends on your list of course. I run 3 bull snappers, and I will probably want to run an Ironback Spitter. So for me I will probably take Wrong Eye and Snackjaw, as I can put one bull snapper on Wrong eye, have two on BB or Calaban, and then run Iron back spitter and wrastler on the lock.
So more or less what I would hope for with this thread is that we discuss the pros and cons of each, so that people will be able to pick these out for themselves if they come down to the choice between the two.
And if we want we can throw in the what to take Wrong Eye and Snackjaw, Wrastler, or full unit of Gatormen posse. But remember lets discuss the pros and cons and not get caught up on the, well it depends entirely on the list so I will not tell you what I would take.
Focus on the pros and cons! ;)

Wrong eye and SnackJaw are much better than a Wrastler. for starters, look what you are getting point-for-point. SnackJaw is easily as good as a Wrastler in CC. only, he has one less POW 14 attack but has Reach and crit knockdown on his (fair trade to me)... SnackJaw also has a much better animus than the Wrastler. shooting and spell denial is priceless! they have the same life spirals, MAT, POW, DEF
and FURY...
on top of that, you get Wrong Eye! possibly the best mini-Lock in the game! Wrong Eye can even run a second beast (try giving him a Snapper and see what happens). all in all, a great addition to a Blindwater army. i would definitely take them over a second Wrastler. they are a far better deal

I do agree with the majority of what you said, but the one thing, for me, that sets the Wrastler apart from Snackjaw is the wrastlers roll attack. I see this as the win all for me. I rarely get critical hits, so something that can force my opponent to the ground when I want him to is just priceless to me.
I do like the ability to have Wrong eye with a Bull snapper. I cant really see me putting a heavy beast on him, that fury management just seems like a nightmare to me. The bull snapper in a wargroup with wrong eye seems amazing, purely because of the animus. Throw that on Snackjaw and make him even more survivable.
Does anyone else like the bull snappers as much as I do? (sorry to get off topic a bit) but they seem to be very good for their points. A potential for calvary distance charges on living models, go for a slam or another power attack, oh and get spiney growth.
Anyway my concern with Wrongeye and Snack Jaw is how easily Wrongeye could die. I play Farrow first and foremost, I bought 20 bringands, and rorsh and brine more than a year and a half ago (maybe it was longer too) and have been playing that army as if it was an army for over a year. Rorsh dies, so does brine. Im just nervous, any ideas on how to make Wrong eye more survivable.

Submerge makes Wrong Eye very survivable.

It was my understanding that these guys weren't really warlocks, just had some of their abilities, and therefore couldn't be assigned warbeasts?

They have the Battlegroup Commander ability, so they can take warbeasts.
In fact, some lesser warlocks get a cost reduction for additional warbeasts in some Theme lists (Calaban and Carver come to mind).

The only question is would they be able to take these beasts in merc lists that allow the lessers due to the fact that the beasts are technically minions (the non character beasts) not mercs so theoretically not allowed in a Warmachine list even though they can be in the lesser's battlegroup.....
There is no question that Rorsh and Wrongeye can field extra beasts in their battle groups in Hordes armies

I honestly feel there can be no definitive answer to this debate.
This is due to the following reasons :
~ your playstyle
~ point build of the list you are going to field
~ types of armies you are going to face more commonly
~ local meta
And the last two of these factors can shift just from going to another LGS one town over.
I say the three options :
- Blackhide, Wrong Eye & Snackjaw, and max Gatorman Posse -
are completely interchangeable at any time, and it is more of a whim than a need as to which one to field.

It depends. Two Wrastlers together are more than twice as strong as one Wrastler, as you can use one to throw the other and Rise him, greatly extending your threat range. If the choice comes down to a second Wrastler or WE&S, I'd go for the Wrastler every time, but once I already have two (and here we're talking about 50+ point games) I'd reach for the minilock before another heavy.
Just as a reminder, the OP said to make sure you explain the pros and cons of each choice, and some of you have done this, but not all.

For me it depends on which 'lock I'm running. Barnabus likes a pair of Wrastlers for the fury output and access to Warpath. Calaban doesn't need it, because he can cut himself for fury and heal back up via Carnivore, and he has no battlegroup abilities. This isn't to say that Calaban shouldn't take two Wrastlers, but rather that a single Wrastler and a Snapper or two is a viable alternative.

I just have to say that the idea of a "Snackjaw" is awesome! Gator running around with popcorn and Skittles in his bag, just in case... I will have a talk with Mr. Seacat and see what we can do with this.
