Gunfighter Feat?

Is the idea of a "Gunfighter" feat that allows you to shoot at an opponent in melee range and not provoke an attack of opportunity too powerful? Sort of a version of the Warmachine Gunfighter ability. Or does anything like this already exist?

Just so the thread isn't useless, the feat in question is actually called Gunfighter, and appears in No Quarter issue #9.
