Sorry if this was already answered, but the Search function showed no results.

If I remember correctly, in an issue of the No Quarter Magazine ( don't know the exact number ) it was written, that there are plans for Warmachine novels.

So, will there be novels for Warmachine and/ or Hordes? I simply love the background of the Iron Kingdoms.

I don't recall any announced plans, but I do know that plans are sometimes quite long-term.

This was brought up in Guts 'n Gears Circle of Orboros Faction (http://gutsngears.libsyn.com/2010/12) episode released 20101208.

At 1:10:19 - Andres brings up the subject of the fluff having "... so much rich resources it's aboput time you start doing some novels ... and some real books about this kind of stuff ...". Seacat chuckles in the background thanks him for the complement and says "... I'd love to dive into that more ..." but then returns to the specific topic of the podcast, artfully dodging the implied question about when/if novels are forth coming.

I do recall any other times the subject was specifically brought up.

Yeah there's been a lot of talk about this, honestly I just doubt that Doug and Simon have time to think about doing full novels right now, nor does PP have anyone with enough free time to act as an acquiring editor to review submissions by outside authors. They'll probably branch off into this eventually as they continue to grow, but I wouldn't hold your breath for anything in the immediate future.

They may be waiting to roll out the new Iron Kingdoms RP before inviting/contracting novel authors. Both the RP and the video game would be excellent points in time to launch the first novel (or series of). The game in particular would be a great opportunity to establish full and sustained characters with a novel that ends right where the game starts. This could at least partially relieve the game developer the stress of weaving a rich enough background for NPC's not currently in the fluff.

Untill then I'll have to stick with whfb novels.

I remember Doug saying he'd like to do a piece on the Scharde Invasions....

But other than that, a novel in the IKverse is only a pipe dream.

I'm fairly sure it's been mentioned as something that's in the works, we just don't have any idea of the time frame or of it will ever actually happen. There was supposed to be a comic book too.

There are a lot of things in the works: books, graphic novels, a video game, ... "In the works" just means there's a chance that somewhere down the line such a product may possibly become a reality. If books are announced, it will only be when that chance has become a very high probability, not before.

As long as they don't do a Blizzard and hire talentless hacks to write their novels...

To be fair, Blizzard's stable are still better...

Not many games or, well, anything that have novelizations made tend to have the novels be any good at all. Games Workshop's novels are some of the best in this field because the novels practically exist in a separate continuity from the game it seems. And they have some good writers who have pretty free reign.

Similarly, the OLD Magic: the Gathering novels are actually really good too. Planeswalker, Time Streams, The Brothers' War, The Thran, etc. All the ones before they started tying the novels to specific blocks and constraining the story heavily.

I'd certainly like to see something, but for now, I am happy that we just have a steady stream of stories of SOME kind coming in, between the main books and NQ. It'd be nice to have an online story again like the Haley twins one from way back.

No matter what though, they won't be able to satisfy everyone. If I don't get a novel with Skarre being awesome, I'd be disappointed. And I highly doubt that such a novel could be very high on the list, if ever. :p

What ever happened to the planned comic book?

PP should cut a deal with Charles Stross to write a novel for them. I would buy that in a heartbeat. The guy has a style that's dark and humorous at the same time, and is (IMO), one of the better sci-fi authors out there right now.

Takes a while to write a novel if you do it right...

If I remember right, novels were announced as "planned" in 2009. I guess that is a while ( at least to have some information, or announcing that there won't be any in the near future ).

As long as I being in this forum PP has said they would love to do novels (*look at join date*)...basically they being saying that since the *OLD* forum.

I guess this is one this Soon™ kind of thing.

What a compilation of short story stuff from No Quarters and books? I only got into the game 6 months ago and I wouldn't mind getting some of the older stories, but the models are getting the money opposed to NQ back issues and Mk1 books

How's about this then for a thought...

Ask yourself, do you want awesome novels, or do you want IK Twilight?
