The holidays are over and due to circumstances, I've got some money left over for my WM/H addiction. I've always loved the way the Spriggan looks, and he seems to be multi-role (leaning heavily towards armor cracking) with his AoE grenades clearing out squishies hiding around all over the place (and he's anti-stealth/cammo/smoke clouds). Plus, it has a bit more armor in the front than the average Khador 'jack, and that's all good. Of the non-character 'jacks, the only ones I don't have are the Berzerker and the Spriggan, but I'm not overly fond of Berzerkee. The character 'jacks are WAY too expensive, and I'm not an experienced enough painter to do them justice.

So.... does he work well in tandem with other units/'jacks/'casters? I'd like to be able to field him often if I purchase him, but I don't want to regret not taking the Destroyer.

One Spriggy is lovely is you have the ranged stuff to benefit from the flares. You will never need more than one.

I plan on running 2 spriggan in a Vlad1 list for resurgence. So far in my practice games they have been great. I use them primarily as an assasination tool. Vlads feat combined with boundless charge gives the spriggan a 15" threat range. Plus, bulldoze helps clear out intervening models.

Also, if assasination is not an option, they are great versitile jacks. Excelent in melée and very useful at range. Few things are as satisfying as denying Tartarus stealth and then capping him with widowmakers or a mortar.

Sounds good! Looks like I know my next LGS purchase.

Bulldoze combined with really long charge (depending on your caster) is amazing, and flares are extremely useful. Less so now that smoke was nerfed, but in the FT it was a godsend. He also hits like a Khador jack, takes a hit like a Khador jack, has powerful charge (MAT 10 with eButcher), and grenades which can be used to kill B13th in a pinch :D

Thats what I like about the Spriggan,

It hits well, it hit hards, its tough as hell and in a pinch it can take out those annoying dodgy/stealthy things and it helps other elements in the army as well.

For 10 pts you feel that you are getting decent value to some degree with the melee elements alone but throw in the ranged options and its nice to have.

All in all I think its also one of the best jacks for Irusk of any version to have.
It works great with Butchers and PVlad,

Being able to strip off stealth is a pretty useful feature in addition to being a solid melee warjack. He supports the winterguard rocketeers very well for example.

I'm tempted to buy my second for Karchev. Forget Unearthly Rage, forget Total War. Just Tow two Spriggans, give them 2 focus each, run and turn around. Spend 1 focus point for charging and the second for boosting attack roll (MAT 8 + 3D6). What warcaster can survive two boosted P+S 18 attacks coming from 19-21" away? Not many.

Two Spriggans, I find, is a nice pair of warjacks for Butcher2 because they become great assassination tools (Bulldoze!)

The versatility is what makes Spriggan great - we don't have another such jack.

In any given situation there are at least two cool things you can do with Spriggan - and usually more. Reach, Powerful Charge, Bulldoze, armor 21 (that one point really adds up), two passable shooting attacks and flares. Sure, you're not going to use everything at once - but it's the opportunities that Spriggan provides. And he still hits like a sledgehammer.

Removing abilities from him to make him cheaper is pointless. If you want cheap one trick ponies we've got a bunch of them. And there's nothing wrong with them! But we only have one Spriggan who does all this stuff. Cherish him.
